  It is a common belief that the Buddhist temple, Ottapaduwa Raja Maha Viharaya has a long history.
  It is located on the Thambuththega - Nochchiyagama road and adjoins the Ottapuwa junction.
  Because of its serene environment, this place is on the minds of the people who visit the place.
  But during the Poya days, there are lot of Buddhist devotees here.
  The ancient ones that exist here Vishnu Devalaya is a very popular place among the people.

  Oththappuwa raja maha viharaya is a Buddhist temple which was built in ancient kings time. Situated beside the Nochchiyagama to Thabuththegama road. Though it is called a raja maha viharaya, the ancient ruins cannot be seen in the premises and no evidence why it has been built or what is it famous for.
  But, there is a devalaya which is famous and daily rituals are conducted for that. I could see lots of villagers were coming for that.
