This old style trainstation serves huge crowd everyday. One of the main spot for the foreigners. Surrounded with tea estate. Nice view for nature lovers. Passengers waiting area needs to be renovated for public use. Need some improvements to serve better.

It is one of the most attractive stations in Sri Lanka. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is the closest railway station to Nuwara Eliya. Staying an entire day here, You can get a bunch of experiences about culture here. Office and school trains passing the station depicts the life conditions of people in the hills. This is where the Nuwaraeliya bound narrow guage train started many years back.

Buildings which stand here have been constructed many years back. A glance at them can make you imagine the golden past with steam locos chugging in an out of sheds and how tea boxes being loaded into wagons. Still the age old running shed and and the water pipes makes the station a precious link between present and the past.

it's about a 15-20 minute drive to nuwara eliya. there are taxis and tuk-tuks available to take you and cost around 750 rupees. recommend second class tickets for 110 rupees to ella. people are savage with seats. I got to the seat but someone put their bag through the window onto the seat so don't be polite - just go for it. if you want a guaranteed seat go for first class but you don't get the experience of hanging out the window.

If you travel Nuwaraeliya by train, Nanuoya is the closest station to Nuwaraeliya. When you get off, there is a canteen to have a hot coffee in the cold weather or wash room facilities (they are not luxury, but ok as atleaset they have those options). Then the bus starts from a place closer to Nanuoya station to Nuwaraeliya. Or else, you can easily get a tuk tuk or your own taxi arrangement.

The gateway to heaven.. An airport to little England.. A small town located in Avissawella - Nuwaraeliya A7 highway. Just 7kms to nuwaraeliya and 205km from colombo fort railway station.nearly 6hrs journey from colombo.A town that improved and well known due to the railway station.. Main hub of transporting flowers to Colombo. Cool climate and incredible surroundings.. But must say the shops available are horrible. Better buy something from Nuwaraeliya or Hatton..

One of the most beautiful experience of our trip in Sri Lanka. Planning to travel from Kandy to Ella we took a train from Peradeniya (near Kandy) to Nanu Oya and the day after a train from there to Ella. In Nanu is also possible to visit a tea factory (Pedro's)
