Martin wicramasinghe is a great writer who lived in southern Sri Lanka. Though he was not educated primarily much in latter he became wise man. Even books by him are mostly used in school higher education in art stream. This is his place and it is modified as a characteristic Meausium latter.

ගාල්ලේ සිට පැමිණෙනවා නම්, උණව‍ටුන, තල්පේ, හබරාදුව වැනි නගර පසු කල විට කොග්ගල ප්‍රදේශය හමුවෙනවා. ඒ ආසන්නයේ A2 මාර්ගයට යාබදව මේ සුන්දර ඉඩම පිහිටා තිබෙනවා.

මේ ජන කෞතුකාගාරය තුල සිංහල ජන සංස්කෘතියේ උරුමය විදහා පාන කෞතුක භාණ්ඩ රාශියක් දක්නට ලැබෙනවා.
ධීවර, කොහු, මැටි කර්මාන්ත, පාරම්පරික ආයුර්වේද උපකරණ, රූකඩ කලාව හා අතීත ගැමි ජීවන රටාවට අදාල කෞතුක වස්තූන් මෙහි ප්‍රදර්ශණයට තබා තිබෙනවා. මෙහි ඇතුලත ඡායාරූප ගැනීමට නම් අවසරයක් නෑ.

කෞතුකාගාරයට පි‍ටුපසින් ඉඩමේ තීරුවක් වෙන්වෙලා තිබුනේ පැරණි යාන වාහන එකතුවකට.

කෞතුකාගාරයට පි‍ටුපසින් පිහිටියේ මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා ජීවත් වූ නිවස. එය ඉදිරිපිට මෙසේ සඳහන් පුවරුවක් දක්නට ලැබුනා.
"එවකට කොග්ගල, ගෙවල් දහසකින් යුත් දැකුම්කලු ගම්මානයක් වී ය. පන්සල, ගුරු ගෙදර, වෙද ගෙදර, ඔපිසර ගෙදර එගම වැදගත් තැන් වූහ.
1942 දෙවැනි ලෝක යුද්ධ කාලයේ මෙගම වැසියන් පැය 24ක් ඇතුළත ඉවත් කොට ගෙවල් සියල්ල බිඳ දමා ගුවන් තොටක් හා හමුදා කඳවුරක් පිහි‍ටුවන ලදී. මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා උපන් මේ නිවස පමණක් එදා ඉතිරි වූයේ එහි සොඳුරු පෙනුමට ඇලුම් කළ සුදු නිලධාරිනියක එය සිය නිල නිවස ලෙස යොදාගත් හෙයිනි. අහම්බෙන් වූ එම සිදුවීම ජාතියේ වාසනාවක් යයි අද හැඟේ.
එකල ගිංපතලිය නමින් හැඳින්වූ ඉඩමේ පිහිටි මේ නිවස බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය හමුදා ඉවත්ව යාමෙන් පසු ලඳු කැලෑවෙන් වැසී ගියේය. 1962 දී එවකට පැවති රජය මඟින් මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා වෙත ආපසු භාරදෙන ලද වසර දෙසීයක් පැරණි මේ නිවස හා ඉඩම එතුමාගේ අභාවයෙන් පසුව ජාතික උරුමයන් වශයෙන් පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබන්නේ මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ භාරකාර මණ්ඩලය විසිනි."

මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා පරිහරණය කරන ලද ගෘහභාණ්ඩ සහ උපකරණ රාශියක් එහි ප්‍රදර්ශනයට තබා තිබෙනවා. ඒ මහතා උපන් නිවසේ මැද කාමරය අසල "උපන්දා සිට" කෘතියේ අඩංගු මේ ඡේදය සඳහන් වුනා.
"මා උපන් දිනයේ අඩවන් කරන ලද දොර ඇති කාමරයෙහි උන් වින්නඹුව 'සරම' යයි කියනු ඇසූ තාත්තාත් සහෝදරියනුත් බෙහෙවින් සන්තෝෂ වූහයි මගේ නෑයන් කියනු මා නොයෙක් වර අසා ඇත. ඔවුන් එතරම් ප්‍රීති වූයේ පිට පිට කම්බා අටක් බිහිකළ අම්මා වැදු එකම 'සරම' මා බැවිනි"

නිවසේ මැද කාමරය ඉදිරියෙන් තිබුනේ කිරිබත් හැඩයට ඇතිරූ හත‍රැස් පිඟන් ගඩොල් සහිත කෑම කාමරයයි. සමරු සටහන්, ඡායාරූප හා පොත්පත් නිවසේ පි‍ටුපස කොටසේ ප්‍රදර්ශනයට තබා තිබුනා.
නිවසට දකුණු පැත්තෙන් මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ සමාධිය පිහිටල තිබුනා

From here you can get to know complete understanding about Sri Lankan village life. It contains old sri lankan industries like transportation.. finaly can be seen Mr. Martin Wikramasighe's house and what he used. Best for students and tourism industry.

A short walk across the road from The Fortress Resort. A guide (no tipping here) will talk you through the museum exhibits of Sri Lankan history. You will then be free to view the vehicle and boat museum ending up at the house. The visit won't take long but it is interesting.

You can experince the actual thoughts and memories in real time at this place which were shared by Sri Lanka's great author Martin Wicramasinghe in his book "Upandasita". Visiting his birth place and the falk museum is a time travel in to Koggala 100 back.
For a reader of Martin Wicramasinghe's book s this is a must to visit place in the Southern part of Sri Lanka.

There we can learn a lot of things about the lives of the people at that time. It is a good place for children to learn . There are many exhibits of the ancient society. I loved it.

The name ''Martin Wickramasinghe Museum' misleads the public and hides the true beauty of this marvel of a Falk museum and makes you think it's all about the national treasure writer.
But his lovely house and museum is only a part of this unique collection which is a treasure in its self.
As the entry ticket says "This museum, houses an extensive collection of artefacts related to Sri Lankan folk culture,."
It's a MUST SEE for young and old, locals as well as foreigners alike,!

While the museum has a fascinating collection of art, artefacts and folklore memorabilia it has been badly curated with information boards giving out either wrong or misleading information. Had the potential to be a great place.

The real star of the entire complex is Wickremasinghe's house itself. It is authentic, charming and provides a keen insight into the author's mind.

The ticket is Rs50 for locals. Not sure if its the same for tourists. Great place. The garden is well maintained and the museum is nice and informative.
