Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium , is an international cricket stadium in Hambantota , Sri Lanka . It was built for the 2011 Cricket World Cup and hosted two matches, the first being Sri Lanka against
Canada , on 20 February 2011. The stadium has a capacity of 35,000 people making It the second largest stadium in Sri Lanka .

Nice ground and best sunset view you can see while watching cricket but hardly accessible to the ground since it is in the middle of no where.public transport is also be a problem late night here if it is day and night match,if you're going to watch a match be prepared all the things you need .

They need to play more matches in this ground. Built for the 2011 world cup, there has only been very few matches played since then. 2012 T20 world cup matches were played and they still have the sponsors logos around the stadium.

Ground is located neara sooriyawewa.
You can easily reach to this ground via Rathnapura if you are in colombo or you can use Highway.
we can see a dry climate in this area.

It was built by the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, at that time it was maintained by the Sri Lankan Army. Then yahapalana government has stopped it (it is an international stadium , it should be kept in good hands like SL Army)and whole stadium was not maintained properly. So sad to see how a modern newly built ,precious resource ruined by the carelessness of stupid decision makers.
