The place is s buddhust templr with a great archeoligal value.it also attracts tourists for it's caves , natural beuti etc. Arceological evidence shows that the human settlements around kealni river in 6th bc influenced in building this cave temple. It contains a cave devalaya dedicated to sidda pathini. A newly bult statue of loard budda is an iconic view of the temple near kaduwela homagama road

Ancient caves prove this area was inhabited by humans 30,000 years back. More than 2000 year old temple believed to be built by Queen Viharamahadevi in 300 BC. 121 feet beautiful Buddha statue sits upon the hilltop. Perfect view from top. This place is amazing but little creepy. And better behave well. Head monk is little tuff. During the Dutch colonial times they brought slaves from Africa. It says two of them escaped and lived in this temple and died. And one of them worships as black god. There is a statue representing him.

Korathota Temple History
According to the historical information provided over there, this temple was started in year 01 AD. This temple has two important historical inscriptions, which says this temple was offer to Maha Sanga by a daughter of Mahachula Mahatissa. Second one says one cave offered to Maha Sanga by a provincial leader call Sumana.response / report this review -

Located near to the main road.If you wish to visit by bus can get 697 Homagama - Kaduwela bus to visit here. At the top of mountain established a giant Samadhi Buddha Statue.
