Good if you want to experience the imperial era, the hotel is 150 years old.

Nice hotel with good view of Colombo Harbor. Easy access in end of York street. Food is average. Service is Good. You should visit Harbor Room for nicer view of the dockyard. 24*7 Customer service hot-line available. Nice and calm place.

Appearance is very old. Going in the elevator is really scary because its very old. But there is a good side also. Maintaining old things add an additional value.

Hotel is well kept preserving the old glamour. Rooms are good. The harbour view restaurant is a place with a Very good view. In the heart of Colombo. Good retaurants and clubs in walking distance.The biggest problem is parking and traffic to get to the hotel during day time.

This place gets very mixed reviews so we went with low expectations. Pleasant surprise. The room was large and clean. The bathroom was functional and clean but dated. The view from the room lacked charm but we had the curtains closed in the heat. The staff are wonderful and manage to be pleasant efficient and unobtrusive. The view from the dining room is stunning. The buffet is extensive and great value. We didn't like all of it but very much enjoyed some things which is the advantage of buffets. The atmosphere of the hotel is charming. We will go back.

This property is old and rated at 3 star level. But the location of this hotel is strategic. It's located on York Street and just opposite to the harbour.

From our room we can easily see the harbour clearly.

The rooms are pretty large and with all basic facilities.

The breakfast spread was also good.

Also it's near to the Casino!

I haven't stayed at the hotel. But I have been there at the famous Harbour Room. They serve buffet there. It's a nice place over looking the Colombo harbour. The hotel is very old and maintained fairly well.

Built in 1837, it is one of the oldest hotels in Colombo. Nice to see the property maintained well. The decor is totally retro. Location wise it is a great place as most of the amenities are nearby.

If you enjoy history this place can tell you a lot. Ask to be taken to grand suites and club rooms. Very interesting place plus ice cold beer.

Rooms are nice and big with storage space, but not enough plug sockets and the shower was awful, no water pressure and constantly changing temperature. Bed was fairly comfortable, functional AC. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast was good but the restaurants didn't seem very good for other meals

Best place to dine with budget

I had a dinner on a day before to the Christmas Eve.

The place is located next to the Colombo harbor which is kind of isolated place. The view to the harbor on night will blow the mind away. It was such a beautiful view and I hope none of the other hotel has (except normal restaurants). Best suitable to have dinner, but lunch. Tables were so clean and properly arranged.

I went on international buffet and it had really good varieties of dishes and couple of local food items too. The foods were excellent from starters to desserts. I really love the black coffee, and I recommend you have it if you ever dine. When considering the cost, the buffet was so satisfying.

Waiters of restaurant did a fine job. Always serve you with a smile, which was something I really like. Their dress code boost your feeling of having dinner in cruiser ship. The speed of their work is really appreciable.

There were no one to welcome you to the restaurant was the only problem I had. They use to play live music, but only one keyboard player was there; probably due to the holiday.

I recommend to reserve your table before you go and don’t forget to mention to reserve it near by the windows with the harbor view.

Its a beautiful colonial style hotel.
Best thing is the Harbour Dining Hall, you will see the full panoramic view of Sri Lanka's port.

Enjoyed the buffet while looking over the harbour. Drawbacks are no parking and service was not top notch; had to wait about 30-45mins for a milkshake. But the price and taste triumph over them

Excellent place to be in at if you are planning to stay in Colombo for a good price. Though its not much luxurious to talk about, your clock will work slow for you.. can get a best view of Colombo Harbor while sitting in almost 200 years old place. Food is good and the environment. Bar is good with good staffs.. Loved the place

Good classical hotel in heart of the city. Old building giving a good attraction among tourists not among locals. Food is excellent, Hotel restaurant is at 4th floor which gives full view of colombo port. Free WiFi available.

The hotel with vintage ambiance.. Very old furniture in lobby dates back to colonial era.. A place to relax for a traveler who adore the old charm and not for the ones who wants to have modern luxury feel.. The place is very close to the main attractions the city of Colombo has to offer..

Nice location near the port, accessibility to the railway station is a good thing. Breakfast was okay. Bathroom was smelly.
