Colonial Style hotel with a touch of the good old days atmosphere.
If you are kind of tourist local or foreign who appreciates the opportunity to do a bit of time-travelling going back to the era of the British when you visit Nuwara Eliya, then Hotel Glendower might be something for you. I absolutely loved to stay here.Â
I would like to particularly point out the excellent service I met from all the staff. And just having a charming little in-house pub "19th Hole" Good value old-style rooms - wonderful.

Nice ambiance, like colonial times. But rooms are ok. Not so great. Yellow lights are not to good in nights.
Quaint property. Kids loved the garden and the rooms were a throwback to colonial times. Unfortunately being surrounded by some large construction soon. Hopefully will retain its charm. When we checked in, we hoped we had booked a longer stay.
located nearby to the lake and it is a small hotel. Standard rooms, beautiful little garden and the highlight of this place is the pub. English type pub with a relaxing atmosphere. would recommend for any one who is looking for good pub.
Helpful and friendly staff. Centrally located. Nice big rooms with clean toilets. Decent food with a fairly large menu to choose from.
Only been in the bar, which was good because of the happy hour. Good drinks!
Very nice place with unique features . Brilliant staff , every one of the staff was willing to help and make u happy always. Only this was toilet was stink. And bathroom was not clean enough. Room floor was not clean enough too. If they improve a bit of cleanliness this place is pretty much similler to 5 Star hotels around here. We had a nice stay there anyways. Play room up starts was so good.
Vrey romantic place in nuwaraeliya. Architecture of the building and the garden view is excellent.
staff is super friendly and helpful
good foods
at the middle of the city but calm
cheap
classic setting
bar/pool table/restaurant
We booked this hotel because it was a love crush of the lonely planet. What a disappointment.
A room paid 100US$ the night for :
- no hot water, no pressure : at 5 am, on the way to the world's end, we informed the management that there was no hot water in the room. At noon, when we came back, we have been told that the issue was fixed. What a surprised when we wanted to take a well earned shower and to find cold water again.
The staff seems to find this funny. The issue has been fixed in the afternoon, after a lot of complaints.
- dirty, really dirty shower and bathroom.
- no extra toilet papers : you have to request it
- only one towel for 2 : you have to request another one
Finally : really poor value for money, poor service (including for diner), dirty, really dirty shower.
The plus : really good location. And the price for the driver to the world's end is fair.
As a solo traveler, this hotel was perfect for me. I received really good service from the staff. Very welcoming. Loved the old English inn kind of atmosphere Rooms were clean, the Chinese restaurant options for dinner wasn't that great but breakfast was delicious and filling. Location was perfect as it was right next to the grand hotel that has a fantastic Indian and Thai restaurant that you can visit for other food options (if you want) or the town is just 5-10 mins walk. The park is just down the street. Overall, I loved my stay at this hotel.
I loved the decor. Staff were helpful. But the rooms need urgent refurbishment nd so foes the bathroom. Their toiletries r top class
