  Use the temple lane entrance if you are going to collect passport. Often drivers will drop you to the wrong entrance which is on another road.
  Fast and convenient service from embassy. Cozy waiting area. All your stuff will need to be locked in a locker when you enter to collect the passport, including bags, Mobile phones.

  Unprofessional staff. No telephone etiquettes. One of the horrible places to expect decency. These people represent the german embassy. Such a shame

  Extremely Rude..!!!I had a similar experience to that of an earlier google reviewer..I had a few missed calls from the german embassy(presumably regarding my visa) and when inquired the reason, the lady answered ''I DON'T KNOWI DON't really know.I Don't know who called etc' 'in the most uncaring tone and manner ,then hung up She was from the visa Section!i don't know who hired these bird brains but I never imagined that the embassy of Germany relied on such staff to keep the 'true' german values and professionalism within this little country .I don't know who trained and hired these fools but i'm sure that was a very german response to a question?..such responses by the embassy staff often leads ppl to believe germans are a bunch of rude and manner-less ppl who can't even say goodbye without hanging up the phone
  
  Whoever wishes to call and ask a simple question from these 'Professionals' be warned for their parrot like answers .it seems that is the best they can do rather than being actually helpful as they are meant to bea simple kot-thu joint has better customer service than this place..this wasn't the first time either..

  Diese Botschaft ist eine absolute Frechheit und der Service grauenhaft. E-Mails werden nicht beantwortet und kommen angeblich nicht an, dabei habe ich das Kontaktformular der Webseite der deutschen Botschaft in Colombo benutzt. Erst nach Beschwerden ans Auswärtige Amt in Deutschland wurde überhaupt auf meine Anfragen reagiert, allerdings mit sehr pampige Antworten. Ergebnisse werden mir nicht direkt mitgeteilt, sondern an eine Behörde weitergeleitet, die wiederum nichts davon weißt. So funktioniert Bürokratie in Deutschland. Kein Wunder, dass die alle überarbeitet sind, wenn man die Arbeit hin und herschiebt und sich keiner dafür zuständig fühlt. Der Telefonservice ist unterdurchschnittlich. Manchmal hat man da nur einen sitzen, der nur gebrochen oder gar kein Deutsch und mir ist auch schon passiert, dass ich morgens anrufen sollte, obwohl die Telefonische Sprechzeiten noch gar nicht vorbei waren.
  
  Und zuletzt tretet diese Behörde den Schutz der Ehe zwischen Deutsch-Ausländer, der im deutschen Grundgesetz besonders geschützt ist, mit den Füßen und gibt noch nicht mal ein Einreisevisum für wichtige deutsche Ereignisse.

  The call center is very rude. Wanted a reference and the lady sarcastically smiled and said "I DONT KNOW" . Was extremely rude and more likely scolded me calling for assistance.

  Well. It's German. Super high security. Heavy gates. Razor wire. For whatever reason. However once inside - for the ones who have managed it - a well designed modern building set in nice kept gardens.
