The temple is believed to be constructed during the reign of king Saddha Tissa. Ruins of ancient buildings, stone pillars and other old artifacts can be seen within the temple premises

Its a amazing place and great architecture. ancient temple made by stones. Now a days lot of wedding couples and photographers used visit this place regularly. But none of them contribute to develop this temple.
