We did not stay in the hotel but had drinks and dessert in the restaurant. The service was great, the location beautiful and the drinks and food very tasty. Would defnintely like to stay in one of the rooms next time. Great value for the money.

This is a review for the Lighthouse property. We found the rooms to be beautiful, modern, simple, elegant. Super comfy bed with a great (functional + romantic at same time) mosquito net. Caution for older people-- floors (polished concrete) in room could be very slippery. Impeccable service, managers and staff super helpful and assisted in travel advice. One thing we REALLY appreciated is that they have filtered drinking water (NOT bottled water) to cut down on plastic waste from single-serve water bottles (basically the devil in a country without recycling infrastructure!). Located in a great location right in Galle, steps to restaurants, Fort wall, etc. Breakfast was just delicious and we also had dinner in the restaurant, also good. A+!

Amazing ambience.. service was good. The food was nothing to write back home. A beef burger priced at Rs 2000 plus taxes is a bit of a joke. Worth the visit for the ambience, their chocolate brownies and coffee. Probably the best in the fort. Pricey place.

We had an amazing stay at two different boutique guest houses run by Fortaleza hotel: number 50 and number 5. Both were absolutely stunning with exceptional service - our every need was catered to and we felt completely at ease. Would highly recommend and would love to come back.

Breakfast was average and the staff in the restaurant was not really welcoming.
Be also aware that the review of the restaurant on the lonely planet doesn't reflect at all the reality. The food is less than average, bland taste and not a fusion interpretation of Sri Lankan cuisine but it is international cuisine. The food also had a frozen taste. Would not recommend to dine there

Food - absolutely amazing (5 stars)
Service - needs polishing. (3 stars)

Had prawns and fish dishes. Tasty, great flavours, well presented.
Drinks ran dry and empty plates hung around before being cleared. Had to ask for a dessert menu. Once the manager knocked of the night, the Waiters made it clear it's time to leave. Made it very uncomfortable.

Review is for restaurant. Pleasant courtyard ambiance. Good service. Menu dominated by SL twists on global cuisine -- you will find fajitas and burgers and shakes and affogato. Had the mahi mahi and prawn pesto pasta which were both great. A solid choice in Galle and surely among the best in old town.

Came here for dinner only. Gorgeous intimate setting. Food menu was small, but some tantalising options. I opted for peppered tuna as a starter, spicy seafood with coconut gravy for main & a traditional Sri Lankan desert of curd & a sticky sauce (like treacle). All was yummy & reasonably priced for an upmarket restaurant.
