Worth visiting with your family. Well maintained, an open zoo, where you can have an enjoyable relaxing walk around the zoo. Withing 2 hours time you can cover the whole area. Parking is available on the side of the main entrance.

This is the flood plain of the river Mahaweli. Visits during the rainy season are not recommended since the plains are flooded as the river is filled up. The flood plains work as the buffer zone between Somawathiya and Wasgamuwa national parks. Elephants are a common sight during the dry season.

This park is situated near by mahaweli river, in between Manampitiya and Gallella areas in Polonnaruwa. In rainy season the park covers from the flood. People are not permitted to enter, hunting, camping or doing any kind of activity without a proper authorization of the forest department of Sri Lanka.

good place to see wild life around polonnaruwa. there are safaris whick is cheap. recommend anyone to visit sometime. try to avoid rainy seasons.
