Anuradhapura Railway Station is a railway station in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The station is served by Sri Lanka Railways, with Northern Line services, such as the Yal Devi, calling at the station.From Polgahawela, the Northern Railway line was opened up to Anuradhapura on 1 November 1904. The construction of the line beyond Anuradhapura, to Medawachchiya, was completed on 11 March 1905.
Yal Devi was operated between Colombo and Kankasanthurei via Jaffna; (temporarily only up to Jaffna)

You can get Mannar, Kankasanthure, Jaffna, Colombo Fort, Matara, Mt Lavinia Train from here. There are 3 Platforms and the place looks little bit old.

Facilities are excellent.Staff service is very good.Well maintained.Anuradhapura railway station is the major railway station on the Northern line situated 205 km away from Colombo Fort railway station.Station was built in 1903 when the Kurunegala to Anuradhapura track was completed which section of the Northern line.

Most spacious and one of the proud looking raliway stations in Sri Lanka.
Rooms are availiable to be reserved by SLR. It has special procedures during Mihinthale season in the month of June every year.
Taxi and hirable vehicles are available infront of the station.
Sacred city is in the walking distance from the station.

From the station easy to travel to ancient city by taxi or local buses. Use meter taxi for you transport.
