The Caribbean Barber & Beauty Academy was conceptualized in 1998 out of a need to change the way new barbers in the OECS entered the industry.
Up until 1999, 95% of all new persons who became barbers had no formal training, these persons simply moved from a home based trial and error practice to a chair rental arrangement.
After the expansion of the barber industry in the late nineties, the quality of barbering in The OECS came under question. It became evident that a training program was needed to help standardize the skill level of service providers in the barbering industry, thus The Caribbean Barber & Beauty Academy was established.
To date CBBA continues its drive of improving the standard of barbering in the Caribbean.
