Great service! Went in for two 90 day single entry visas (we're British and Australian). No problem at all. Filled out a form, attached a single passport photo, gave $100 USD per visa to the guys and our passport. We pick the passports and our visas in two days. So much easier than getting it done at home where you have to send everything off for three weeks or more. And the lovely smiley man gave us a Vietnamese map!

If you are going to Vietnam by land, there is no such thing as a visa on arrival -- as many travelers find out to their dismay early in the morning at the border. Travel agents will make a visa run for you, for a fee, including transport to the embassy in Vientiane. But why bother -- you can get your visa easily at this friendly consulate in Luang Prabang. They'll even give you travel advice and a handy map. These guys are very helpful. When they told me the fee, they even asked: "is it all right with you?" There are several places nearby to get the passport photo required for your visa, but they actually accepted my picture from the photo-booth at the Four Barrel birthday bash. You might meet some nice travelers here while filling out the form, too.
