Pretty easy, arrive in the morning to sort out Vietnamese visa (check opening hours) You need to bring a passport photo (got some taken at a Kodak shop for 30,000 kip) with you and then fill in the very easy one page form they give you. Couldn’t find any reliable visa pricing info anywhere, but I paid 80 USD for a three month single entry visa. You can pay this in USD or KIP but only in cash. Return the next afternoon to collect passport and visa.

Relatively easy to get your Vietnamese visa secured before arrival, however be aware that opening hours appear to be indicative. To us it was closed all Friday morning (despite us being told otherwise) and we have hear similar stories from other travelers.
