We chose to stay at the Lodge because quite frankly, it seemed to be the nicest place in town, but we were also impressed by their commitment to responsible tourism and supporting the local community. From our Suite Room at the end of the row, we watched the elephants from the Mekong Elephant Park bathe in the morning, while in the late afternoon we sat back with a couple of beers and watched the slow-boats cruising into the port for the night - we had a really comfortable stay!

Amazing grounds, good food, nice staff however very few rooms have air-conditioning and shower curtain installment could have used a little more thought.

Останавливался здесь на одну ночь. Это была плановая Остановка лодки по пути в Луангпхабанг. Хорошие чистые номера. Прекрасный ресторан с видом на Меконг. Здесь можно попросить приготовить сендвичи в дорогу.

A flash of luxury in the middle of the Laotian wilderness. We stopped there overnight on Mékong river cruise between Luang Prabang and Hueixay. Pakbeng is about halfway the 350 km run.
Breathtaking views of the Mekong valley from the restaurant patio located about 150 metres above the river. Camille, the hotel manager, welcomed us personally and spent time with us to chat about Laos, the river, South East Asia.
The rooms are posh, service excellent, although obviously still in training. Be patient, you are in the middle of nowhere in one of the most isolated regions of the poorest country in SEA, and you are getting 5 star treatment, if sometimes a bit awkward. Remember that the local staff could never even dream of living in the same level of luxury as what they are offering to you.
