Was a nice walk through the vegetation. We started at the ticket place and took a short - 15 minutes - boat ride to the gardens. After a short talk we set out. Very nice walking trails with quite a few informative placards telling about Laos and plants in general. After hiking up to the scenic view point (not that scenic) we headed to the starting point for a quick lesson in how to weave a bird out of bamboo. Definite highlight for my kids and me! He even have gave us extra bamboo strips and they wove another on the boat ride back!

Beautiful plants, judging by photos I have seen.
But what makes it even more lovely is the team behind the botanical gardens; for the social impact that they strive to achieve in terms of biodiversity conservation, ecotourism and sustainable agriculture.
Don't forget to visit the gardens, because you can help create a social impact too. Ticket revenue will help in equipping the Lao people with the required knowledge so that they are able to independently drive the biodiversity conservation movement.response / report this review -

Highly recommended. A nice boat ride to a tranquil location in nature. Nice option to get out in nature and see some beauty while getting a little exercise. Add on the great food and activities and this is a place is not to be missed! We thoroughly enjoyed it :)

Love this place! And it's only getting better as they add more features and the plants mature. Their employees are extremely knowledgeable and fun. The food is delicious and the cafe is very peaceful. Highly recommend!

An absolute must if you are in Luang Prabang. The gardens are beautifully designed with a emphasis on cultivating and cataloging the seemingly endless variety of exotic plants that are native to the Laosian countryside.
Our trip was especially pleasant as we were introduced to David who is the Marketing Director of gardens. He is a tall American with a bright smile and a deep understanding of the local flora and fauna. He was kind enough to take the time to give us a tour of the gardens that ended with a rustic yet elegant tea tasting. We sampled some beautiful locally sourced organic teas which were accompanied by these delightful crumbly little tea biscuits that were studded with herbal flowers and tropical fruits that were plucked from the gardens themselves! As we prepared to leave, David invited us to come back the following day as they had scheduled a foraging trip to the jungle.
Wow! What an experience. The gardens had arranged for a bus to take us out to the jungle mountains where we would be hiking . Our local guide (which the gardens had provided) was awesome. He led us through the jungle trails collecting fruits and flowers and vines and roots. We saw elephants, waterfalls, rice fields, and water buffalo. The sunset over the mountains was stunning. Often you hear travelers speak of memorable experiences.well this day was truly one of them!response / report this review -

The office to book your best half-day excursion from Luang Prabang: a boat trip to the former royal hunting grounds. The garden is exceptionally well designed and informative. We loved the free bamboo-weaving workshop and herbal tea tasting. But best of all for the more adventurous is the one-hour scramble along the riverbank to a dark cave. With $25 the botanical garden experience is not cheap but still exceptional value. The botanical garden is a not-for-profit enterprise providing a rare opportunity for tourists to create a better place and support traditional knowledge and science.

Opened in 2016, after 8 years of prep. Employs 50 people to maintain the garden. Large, rich, well documented, beautiful garden. Price not too low, but you do also get a boat ride, orchid presentation, and tea tasting for it. Good value if you ask me! Glad we went!

Took a 15min boat ride to the newly botanical garden at Luang Prabang, nice experience and great garden! The staffs are hospitable and friendly. The entrance fee is slightly over-priced.

Aberto a visitação desde dez 2016, conta com 16000 espécies. Tem caverna para ser explorada ou caminhadas mais leves. O passeio de barco até o local também é agradável. Planeje fazer uma refeição no café que conta com poucas opções mas de muita qualidade.

Nice experience, includes 15 minute boat ride on the river. No guided tour so be prepared to read signs. Good restaurant. Great staff. Overpriced.
