A bit overcrowded, but took only a while. For 10k included in bus it's fair price and adventure. 10k because i had boat included in travelling from pakse

Looks pretty sketchy but surprisingly efficient, well-run and got us to Don Khon simply, safely and smoothly.

Unfriendly rude people which might send you to the wrong boat.

This is not a real Ferry Station! It is a place where some locals use their wooden boats to bring the tourists to the 4000 islands.

There are some shops nearby and you will also find an ATM when you go next to the bus station.
Try the green milk tea at one of the local stands - if you see a pile of condensed milk you are right.

Crossing from this ferry port at sunset was effortless and gob-smackingly beautiful. I arrived with a motorcycle, was directed to an empty ferry and we we left within 5 minutes. I was charged 50,000kip, which really surprised me, since I've taken ferries all across Laos and never paid close to that. But I've also never had such efficiency and beauty. I was lucky to have caught the sunset light. Would happily pay $50 to have such beautiful moments all over again.

Crowdy boat pier to Don Det / Don Khone. Negotiate price if you can.

Go out of the bus station, turn right and walk for a couple of minutes until you find the pier. Turn right again maybe 50 mt and you will see a ticket booth. They sell boat tickets to both Don Det and Don Khone. If you have bought bus and boat ticket together from hotel or agency you have to redeem your voucher here, and get a yellow ticket for Don Khone or a blue one for Don Det.

This ferry station has no place to sit while waiting for ferry to cross over to Don Det. Speed boats operate between Nakasang and Don Det from here.

dont get expectations up here, its just a booth take take money and issue tickets.

for traveling to the 4k islands its best to book the boat transfer with your bus ticket.

    to don det/khon:
when you arrive in nakasong walk from the bus station down to the ferry. swap you big bus ticket for a small ferry ticket.

otherwise price is 20k KIP during daytime
