Muenna 1989 Guesthouse was a simple, nice enough place to stay in Luang Prabang, within walking distance of most of the main attractions in town. It is a cross between a backpackers place, and a low level guesthouse. Check in was simple, although the stairs up to the rooms are a bit steep. The rooms are well sized with decent A/C, and the bed was the comfiest I’ve slept in on our trip so far. No mosquito net, the shower points directly at the toilet, and the bathroom floor is perpetually wet, but other than that we had a satisfactory stay here. Except for check out and booking transport through the reception.we booked a bus to Vang Vieng with the guy at reception and made sure we confirmed it about 3 times with him because he seemed unsure. We later also confirmed it again twice with the owner who spoke good English, and confirmed our early checkout at 5:30am. We were told the guy would be there to check us out and make sure the transport arrived, but he didn’t wake up until 5:45am, and when the transport didn’t arrive by 6am (when our bus was meant to be leaving), he was extremely unhelpful. In the end we almost missed our bus and were very frustrated. If we were ever back in Luang Prabang we would probably look for other accommodation.

Big rooms, nice location, clean, friendly staff. Included breakfast is bananas, white bread, boiled eggs, tea, coffee. (Its misleading to call it breakfast) Disorganised booking system meaning you may or may not be booked even if you think you are. ( Was full but rooms still showing as available on Agoda) We had to move rooms mid way through booking then find another location. Book at own risk and best to do in person.

Not a good place to stay because of booking conflicts. This place tends to overbook and would end up having more guests than beds.

This happened to me and two other friends I met in this place. Sorry but reslly terrible.

    Don't go there !!
I made a reservation on Agoda and when I arrived, the woman told me that it was full. She said that she has a problem with Agoda (but the booking was already paid !!) and she didn't try to fix it or to help me and it was 8:00 pm.
    Really, don't go there !!

This was a very good stay. Joanna the owner was amazing and thr staff very friendly. I met a lot of young and extremely interesting bagpackers here. The hotel was very clean. Price a bit higher than others but definitely a very good place to stay for bagpackers who wants to socialize.

More of a guesthouse with one room set up with 2 bunk beds. The hostel room downstairs is cheap and clean and the bathroom is in the room rather than seperate. The rooms upstairs are more expensive but are private and have more of a boutique feel to them. Great location, being just a short walk to the main street but with a feeling of being in more of a local area. Local restaurants and small markets are close by.

It doesn't have a great hostel atmosphere, but it is clean enough and has a good price for Luang Prabang.
