NO AIRCON. Flight got delayed and its the middle of summer. For an international airport I would at least expect A/C.

Luang Prabang is a lovely ,wonderful place The airport is an embarrassment! Early morning flight and the airport was filthy. Garbage and litter were everywhere The food were filthy ,with piles of dirt left from some limited sweeping Washrooms were disgusting. Honestly it looked like there had been a fraternity party last night and no one cared to clean up .This airport is an awful representation of such a lovely and historic city .

    Very small international airport.
The custom form must be filled-in before immigration stamping. The other half is for departure.
VOA will be charged according to nationality and the amount can be seen on a board.
There are a few shops at the airport.
You can buy SIM cards, exchange money, buy sourvenirs and there are a few ATM machines.
You can get slightly better rate for USD in town but not really significant. The conversion of USD is the best as you get the exact daily rate. Phongsavanh Bank in the middle gives a better rate.
But for other currencies the rate varies, some better changed at the airport and vice versa.
Free wifi is available but you have to log-in.
It used to be 10 000 Kip taking tuk-tuk to town at the main road 100m away.
The trip is about 4.5km, 20mins.
Now the minimum is 30 000 Kip per tuk-tuk.
    Small tuk-tuk of 4 seats may accept 20 000.
But you can share it with others.
There is NO airport bus to town.

There are 2 levels of departure gates.
Gates 3 & 4 are upstairs. Unfortunately the escalator is out of order.
There are many food outlets at level 2 with VIP lounges.
There is one halal outlet, Nisha similar to the one in town.
Smoking is permitted at the food outlets as the space is opened.

It's a small airport with few staff around but they have a great store shopping inside where you can find some local laos products, T shirt, flag and some othets stuff. It's funny while one of my friend did check in and their immigration officer keep her standing too long at thr photo section and I guess because she is beautiful so they want look at her face for longer than other.

The design of this airport is unique. Easy to get transport here. Tuk- tuk (I guess it is the main transport here) always be there wait for their customer. No worries its cheap and fast 👍

Rip offs to watch out for include the US $1 visa service charge on top of the visa fee. If you don't have the correct amount, immigrations won't give you the correct change. Also, lighters are confiscated without any prior notices at security check.

The airport is quite small and partially outdated. Although they do not service much more than 10 flights per day, he prepared to wait. The check-in can takes very long, even if just very few people are queuing. Upon arrival you can get an on-arrival visa, if needed. It will take around 30 min and costs vary from 26 to 46 USD depending on your nationality. You can buy a Laos SIM card for little money (I paid around 8 USD for a 5 GB volume). Network coverage in Luang Prabang is good. One major downside is the cleanliness of the restrooms. If you do not have to urgently go. don't go.

Very small airport with some gift shops. Checking in is quite slow although not so many passengers. Toilets are in poor condition but usable. There’s bangkok airways lounge which is quite nice. There’s official taxi service for 25k per person and you could buy sim card there too. I’d recommend unitel because of the speed and coverage.

I took the flight from Hanoi and arrived at ard 8PM, the whole airport was almost shut down. All shops and even ATM were closed. There was no public transport nearby and their official taxi (minivan actually) charged 50,000kip for going downtown, which was a ripoff since the distance was not that long.

Small and quiet airport. Arrival and departure procedures are speedy and mostly hassle-free. No departure tax (probably already added to the airfare). There is complimentary Wi-Fi with decent connectivity. Shops and food stalls are quite expensive.

Small is beautiful , when arrival you just need not more than 20 minutes to go outside ( ASEAN Passport ) . For the sim card provider , United is strong in everywhere even you are in village. Nice airport for a small country like Luang prabang

Very small airport. Immigration didn't give me the change for my visa (simply answered no when I asked for it) so get the right amount. Rate for changing money isn't the best (better in town). No grab or uber only taxi for 50.000kip/pers unless you can arrange this service with your hotel. Sim card available but seems like the coverage is poor here (even every Wi-Fi we use there isn't available all the time) I recommend to download offline map, can be done with the Wi-Fi provided at the airport.

We should give a plus, for a small international airport. The Food and drinks are moderate in price. The gifts shop are moderate in prices too, with helpful staff.

Small airport with some convenient store and a little food court at the top. Clean toilet. Only thing is our flight got delayed but no announcement was made at all. Even the flight details screen wasn't updated.

A small regional airport with some shops, if you would like to buy some local food & beverages as souvenirs I highly recommend you to browse all the stores before actually buy one. As we have observed Dao Coffee instant coffee packages, same packaging of 20 sachets, price varied from 45k to 120k. So keep in mind to browse at all stores before actually buying one.
Note that the staff could have service much faster for immigration since there are 2 staffs sitting in immigration counter but only 1 staff working at a time.
    Tip & trick.
    1. Do exchange at Phongsavanh Bank for better rate.
    2. Get a simcard for Lao GSM for better 3G/4G coverage

For the size airport - it's pretty good. Clean and decent couple of spots to have a snack.

Luang Prabang airport is small with some restricted amenities but decent service. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, immigration officials direct me to the relevant desks for visa on arrivals. The fee payable depends on the nationality, so I had to pay USD35 for mine, maximum 30 days stay. Since they did not take cards, so the official directed me outside to the cash machines, (not before retaining my passport though). Two of the ATMs located at the airport were not working so luckily the third one did!

I then returned, fill the visa on arrival form, arrival form, and paid. The process was very straightforward and speedy. Once outside at the arrivals hall, I purchased a Laos Sim card to ensure my connectivity, cost 200 baht (they took my Thai money) for seven days unlimited. Again, a great deal!

Very basic halls with limited facilities, transport service or restaurants

There are not a bus or tuk-tuk services to the city centre (or at least I did not see one).  The only options with the ticket desk to order a shared minivan to the city centre, it cost me 50000 kip (£5, COP18000)

    Departing

Although Lao Airlines does not have web-check availability, my airport check-in was very quick on my flight departing Luang Prabang to Hanoi, and I cleared immigration in less than 15 minutes. Airside there are few shops selling local textiles and souvenirs and a small duty-free shop. There is a spacious seating area near the gates.

There is a VIP Loung for Bangkok Airways passengers, but from the outside, it looked pretty basic with nothing more than some chairs and free newspapers.

Really small airport. Few options to eat. Only one restaurant located in the first floor. Poor service but good taste. And they accept foreign currency.

Very quite Laotian airport in Luang Prabang. Interesting to experience that old world feeling of walking out to propeller planes. Also interesting to see the preferential treatment for the 'party' men who are onboard these flights. Also get to experience aircraft that aren't used in other parts of the world like the old Xian.

Nice rustic airport. All the facilities that you may need. smoking room upstairs. Word of advice for when you arrive, there is a lengthy immigration procedure to go through when you arrive. Multiple counters, photos and USD cash payment. Try to be as quick of that plane as you can and get to the front of the queue. Or even better, get the visa before you arrive.
