We fed and then rode the elephants for around 20 minutes. We then walked the elephants down to the Mekong river to wash them, which was a nice experience. The sanctuary say that they have rescued the elephants from various construction sites across the country, which if true allayed some of my fears of these animals being chained up for feeding. They appear to be investing in a large enclosure for the elephants. Overall an enjoyable experience for our group.

Elephant riding is torture. Please don't do this. If you are interested in elephants and want to see them in natural habitats, go somewhere else like elephant sanctuaries or wildlife Camps where you can watch them in a distance. But keeping those beautiful animals in chains or even ride those animals is brutal torture. You can watch on Youtube how those people treat elephants. Its just for money and tourism. Don't support it.

english speaking staff available. You have to walk to the river, the bathing area, and encounter too much elephants' poopoo. you may have to step on them to reach the river ;)

We only did the elephant feeding because we weren't sure if this is an ethical elephant farm. Most of the animals were in a quite good shape and the tamers treated them respectfully. However they were mounted with the chairs the whole time, and also a few of them was doing the rocking back and forth thing (that we learned is a sign of stress). We could not observe any scars or other sign of improper / rough treatment

I'm always torn about these type of camps. On one hand they do so much good for the elephants, on the other hand I'm exploiting these amazing beasts by riding them. They need the money, they do very good things for the animals, we learn about them. Camp is worth a visit. Support the elephants!

a lot of fun and educational if you take mahout class. Elephants are gentle showing that they are treated right.
