Surprisingly good and clean hostel with Mekong view and restaurant. 185K kip for the double room, including breakfast.
Pros:
- Good solid rooms.
- Very clean.
- English speaking owner. Friendly.
- Nice view.
- Restaurant with good food.
Cons:
- No kettle in the room.
- Bars around can be noisy but finish at 22:00.
- Construction nearby. But didn't influence our stay.

We came here with motorbike, it was around 1PM, we wanted to stay in DP, but it was not open till 4PM, we checked another hotel near river, but no one was there, so we came here just want to check the room firstly. Also the location not at main road so we thought it might be more quiet.
A woman welcomed us with smile, she was friendly and showed us second floor room 8 very nice clean toilet with hot shower, clean room with small balcony (public) facing the river, in the before reviews, someone mentioned bed bugs, so I checked in case, even the mattress part, however, the bed was really clean and good, we decided to book here immediately, the price was 22 dollars with breakfast, without breakfast was like 15 dollars.
We stayed only one night, but we really enjoyed here, especially the comfortable bed and clean toilet part, we just came from Nong Khiaw, the toilet there was small cold and no hot water, so here was like a really good condition.
It was Laos’ new year, we ate dinner at their restaurant, it was normal nice food, there was a bar not far near river, but not so noisy.
We slept really good here, the morning breakfast was simple fried eggs with fruits, bread and drinks. I can not find any not good part, recommend! For sure will come back again. Thank you for hosting us!response / report this review -

You can lie to people and the world but not to yourself!
You wanted to go and stay at Le grand once slow boat passed by and then you created a story and asked for refund when you did not get what you want, you show your childish behavior. This issue is between you and BKC Villa nothing to do with communist country and corrupt police or whatsoever! Yes, you are a customer but it doesn’t mean you are always right. BKC Villa also has its own rouls.
You mentioned that as soon as you arrived you saw small bugs why you didn’t talk to me when I was there? I arrived at BKC Villa around 4:40 PM. I saw you walked to the center and market, later you came back to BKC Villa. I believe you found out The Le Grand contact number then you gave them a call and asked for the room. Once you returned to Villa, you tried to create a story. That day I left home at 7:20 PM, you didn’t talk me but to my wife who cannot speak English well.
You threatened me for a refund if not, you will write a bad review for me and asked me if I am a professional operation and if I want to see pictures and video that you have taken at BKC Villa. So I said I wanted to see pictures and video but you were not in Pakbeng I will ask Tourism authority officers and Tourist police to see on my behalf but you said I threatened you? And talk bad about corrupt police and communist country. You said you are from civilisation country and educated but what you have done is stupid idiot! You know, people here try to work hard just for surviving but you come here want to play trick on them because of 30 bucks, Shame on you!
I will leave it to people who judge it who threaten who? And who is an idiot! And I got 2 Americans who stayed at BKC Villa same day as you and they’ll be witnesses. I’ll ask them for help on this case again if you want.response / report this review -

As soon as we arrived we saw small bugs under the sheet on the bed, as well as exoskeletons. Clearly bed bugs, identified by my doctor girlfriend as well. We took a video and pictures to show the owner so that they would believe us and left the room with our luggage. We showed the owners wife and asked for a refund and she wouldn't let us leave until we talked to her husband who was a half hour away. We didn't want to wait around after an 8 hour journey and wanted to go to another place. We ended up leaving and I emailed the husband/owner politely saying we simply wanted a refund and that we wouldn't write a review because we thought he was professional and had a nice family. He wrote back threatening me asking where we were staying because he wanted the Laos police to come to our location to take my pictures and video. I contacted the US Embassy and they instructed me not to reply to him and to share this review everywhere I can once I leave Laos. Shame, he could have actually been professional and refunded the money but he chose to go the route he did and here we are. We had to wait to get out of Laos to write this so that we didn't risk any legal issues with their corrupt government and police. Avoid this place, we felt threatened during our entire stay in Laos. Beautiful country, unacceptable experience but not unexpected in a corrupt communist country where people think it's ok to threaten guests like that.

A very nice and tidy room with AC and warm water. Nice welcome. Breakfast with a view on elephants. A good place.

A decent hotel, clean and friendly. They have breakfast as part of the deal and it was ample. They pick you up at the dock and drop you off in the morning. I would stay there again.

Wonderful up-market hotel (for the area). Wonderful hosts and great en-suite rooms with A/C. Dining area has river-view.
