  천안장항간의 열차선로를 장항선이라고 했다.
  그 장항선의 종착역인 장항역이 몇년전 복선화작업과 함께 신역사로 이전하였다.
  시골의 작은 역이지만 무척 잘 정돈되어있고 주차장도 무료로 이용이 가능하다.
  서울과 서대전까지의 이용에 불편함이 없다.
