본래 용산리 남산에 본당을 건립하려다 공사 중 시신을 발견하여 계량마을에 있는 현재 위치에 일제강점기때 건립되었다고 합니다. 6.25전쟁 이후 구호, 재건사업을 하면서 신자수가 크게 늘었다 합니다. 중학교 의무교육 시행으로 현재는 폐교된 성골롬바노 사립중학교를 설립 운영하면서 지역민 교육에도 이바지 했습니다.
