  폭포라 하기는 그렇고 여울 정도 명칭은 황장폭포가 아니라 횡장폭포다. 사실 이 폭포 아래쪽이 예전엔 물이 방방하게 들이찬 호수 같았다. 영산담이라고들 했던 이 못은 수해로 인해 토사에 파묻혔지만, 서서히 복구되고는 있다.
