On our first visit we went by tuktuk iin the evening and the whole place was alive with hordes of people enjoying street snacks, shopping (there is a night market across the road), socialising, walking and enjoying the cooling breeze. It was too overcrowded for us and so we decided to have a tuktuk drive along the quay (heavy traffic and very polluted as well as dusty due to construction work). The views from the quay of the Royal Palace, the Wat Phnom and the Wat Ounalom, all lit up are breathtaking.
Our second visit was mid morning and what a transformation! Very few people, a few worshippers visiting the shrine and the place was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed our leisurely walk.
Boats for the Tonle Sap river cruise are accessed from here. We did a one hour cruise. Nothing spectacular. New developments on the opposite bank, view of some of Phnom Pehn's buildings and distressing insight into the plight of the boat people. The traffic plying up and down the river is mainly cargo boats.
There are many bars and restaurants offering international cuisine, hotels and few interesting buildings.
Best place for people watching, sunrise watching, “watching” in generalthere’s a reason the hotels all cluster toward the river. Also the temperature is noticeably cooler than in the stifling heat of the rest of the city. Also conveniently populated with exercise machines to work off your cocktails/dinner or help you get to sleep. Be wary (or welcoming, as the case may be) of locals trying to sell you something& more wary of the location of your wallet. Central artery of a lively/lovely city.
Nice lively path along the river - enjoyed getting from place to place routed via there both day and night, though it’s particularly fun around/after sunset when people are out exercising, socialising, eating, drinking - really great way to get a feel for local life in Phnom Penh. You can pick up a beer and some local food & fruits along the way. Would recommend trying some of the pickled mangoes and baby unripe mangoes with salt.
Nice for a walk or exercise
Nice place to have a walk or go jogging.
The park is great for a walk or a run. The view of the Palace is nice, and the monument makes for a great photo opportunity, but the river itself leaves something to be desired.
The long park along street and river, but there is no much place for car park. The morning and the evening there are many people come to do exercise over here. The night time there are a lot of people within local and foreigner come to walk by.
Riverbank with full view of Tonle Sap river, wide sidewalk, bars and cafe and restaurants, nice breeze - that's what you get here after a day tour in the hot and humid weather
It's a nice place to hangout just watching people do their own thing. Locals come here regularly to jog and exercise, it's nice in the morning and evening. When the weather is good, great spot to take sunrise photo.
Cool place to hang out and watch the people passing by, especially in the evening.
Good place to go jogging but please always keep the place clean by throwing all the trash into the dustbin.
The best place to walk along Mekong River.
Located along Sisowath Quay, his greenly long-distance park is the best place for people who love to exercise or staying relax by sitting on the bench seeing the landscape of the river. It is also highly recommended for tourists who wished to absorb fresh air and take photo of nice city landscape. The park usually becomes lively in the early morning from 5 to 6 am and evening from 6 to 7 pm. Late night traveling around there is not really safe.
