សម្តេចនរោត្តមសីហនុ (1922-2012) ព្រះមហាក្សត្រនៃព្រះរាជាណាចក្រកម្ពុជា (1941-1955 និង 1993-2004)។ ព្រះអង្គត្រូវបានគេអប់រំនៅទីក្រុងសៃហ្គន (បច្ចុប្បន្នគឺទីក្រុងហូជីមិញ) និងប៉ារីសនិងត្រូវបានជ្រើសរើសជាព្រះមហាក្សត្រដោយក្រុមប្រឹក្សារដ្ឋនៅឆ្នាំ 1941 ។ កំឡុងសង្គ្រាមលោកលើកទី 2 ព្រះអង្គត្រូវបានគេឃុំឃាំងដោយកងកម្លាំងកាន់កាប់របស់ជប៉ុន។ បន្ទាប់ពីសង្គ្រាមព្រះអង្គបានអនុម័ត (1947) រដ្ឋធម្មនុញ្ញមួយដែលបានធ្វើឱ្យប្រទេសកម្ពុជាក្លាយជារាជាធិបតេយ្យដែលមានកម្រិតហើយបានសម្រេច (1949) ស្វ័យភាពខ្លះសម្រាប់ប្រទេសរបស់គាត់នៅក្នុងសហភាពបារាំង។ បន្ទាប់ពីការបោះឆ្នោតលើកទី 1 (1950) យ៉ាងណាក៏ដោយព្រះសីហនុបានរំលាយសភាហើយគ្រប់គ្រងដោយក្រឹត្យ។ ព្រះអង្គបានក្លាយជានាយករដ្ឋមន្ត្រីនិងព្រះមហាក្សត្រនៅឆ្នាំ 1951 ហើយបានតែងតាំងគណៈរដ្ឋមន្ត្រីមួយដែលមានសមាជិកភាគច្រើននៃរាជវង្សានុវង្ស។ គាត់ក៏បានធ្វើយុទ្ធនាការដើម្បីឯករាជ្យភាពពេញលេញដែលត្រូវបានផ្តល់ឱ្យនៅឆ្នាំ 1953 ។

នៅឆ្នាំ 1955 ព្រះអង្គបានដាក់រាជ្យលើព្រះបិតារបស់ទ្រង់គឺព្រះបាទនរោត្តមសុរាម្រិតប៉ុន្តែបានរក្សាតំណែងជានាយករដ្ឋមន្ត្រីនិងគ្រប់គ្រងគណបក្សសង្គមនិយមដែលលោកបានបង្កើតឡើង។ ក្នុងនាមជានាយករដ្ឋមន្ត្រីព្រះអង្គបានយកកម្ពុជាចេញពីសហភាពបារាំង។ បន្ទាប់ពីការស្លាប់របស់ព្រះបិតារបស់ព្រះអង្គ (1960) ព្រះអង្គបានក្លាយជាប្រមុខរដ្ឋជាថ្មីម្តងទៀតទោះបីជាមិនមែនជាព្រះមហាក្សត្រក៏ដោយ។ ដំបូងឡើយអព្យាក្រឹត្យក្នុងកិច្ចការបរទេសព្រះអង្គបានបែកបាក់ទំនាក់ទំនងការទូតជាមួយសហរដ្ឋនៅឆ្នាំ 1965 នៅពេលដែលប្រជាជនកម្ពុជាត្រូវបានសម្លាប់ក្នុងអំឡុងពេលការលុកលុយរបស់វៀតណាមខាងត្បូងនិងអាមេរិកនៅក្នុងសង្គ្រាមវៀតណាម។

នៅខែមីនាឆ្នាំ 1970 ព្រះសីហនុត្រូវបានផ្ដួលរំលំដោយរដ្ឋប្រហារស្តាំនិយមដឹកនាំដោយលន់ - ណុលដែលបានជំទាស់គោលនយោបាយរបស់ព្រះអង្គក្នុងការអនុញ្ញាតឱ្យវៀតកុងនិងកងទ័ពវៀតណាមខាងជើងប្រើទឹកដីកម្ពុជា។ ព្រះអង្គបានបង្កើតរដ្ឋាភិបាលនៅក្នុងនិរទេសខ្លួននៅប៉ីជិង។ នៅពេលដែលខ្មែរក្រហមបានគ្រប់គ្រងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាព្រះសីហនុបានត្រឡប់មកវិញ (1975) ជាប្រមុខរដ្ឋប៉ុន្តែនៅឆ្នាំ 1976 ត្រូវបានឃុំខ្លួនក្នុងព្រះរាជវាំង។ នៅឆ្នាំ 1981-82 ជាថ្មីម្តងទៀតនៅក្នុងការនិរទេសព្រះអង្គបានបង្កើតក្រុមចម្រុះមួយជាមួយខ្មែរក្រហមនិងអ្នកដទៃទៀតដើម្បីប្រឆាំងនឹងរដ្ឋាភិបាលកម្ពុជាដែលបានដាក់ដោយពួកយួនបន្ទាប់ពីការលុកលុយឆ្នាំ 1978 ។ បន្ទាប់ពីសន្ធិសញ្ញាសន្តិភាពដែលឧបត្ថម្ភដោយអង្គការសហប្រជាជាតិចូលជាធរមាន (1991) ព្រះសីហនុបានវិលត្រឡប់មកកម្ពុជាវិញឥឡូវនេះជាសម្ព័ន្ធមិត្តរបស់លោកនាយកហ៊ុនសែននិងជាគូប្រជែងរបស់ខ្មែរក្រហម។ ព្រះអង្គបានក្លាយជាប្រមុខរដ្ឋ (1991) និងក្រោមរដ្ឋធម្មនុញ្ញថ្មី (1993) ។ ព្រះអង្គបានដាក់រាជ្យក្នុងឆ្នាំ 2004 ដើម្បីគាំទ្រដល់ព្រះរាជបុត្ររបស់ព្រះអង្គព្រះបាទនរោត្តមសីហមុនី។

The statue is dedicated to Preah Sihanouk (the late King Father), whose statue faces the east toward the Mekong River. King Sihanouk had a big influence on the planning of the capital city. It is located in a park that splits a boulevard bearing the name of the late King's father, Preah Suramarit. People walk and jog in the park that has some water fountains. It is adjacent to the Independence Monument (another undertaking by King Sihanouk).

This is such an honorable memorial in a great park where you can spend time in the evening or in the morning jogging around. Located just meters east of the Independence Monument, this is a nice place to spend time with your family. The statue reminds us of our great king. Also, it’s a nice addition to the Phnom Penh landscape.

An honourable memorial set in a great walking park. If you care to respect the history of Cambodia then you may want to visit this memorial statue located in a nicely designed walking park near Independence Monument. It's fitting that the man who peacefully negotiated independence from France should be placed in front of the monument his actions inspired. This statue and the park renovation attracts hundreds of people each day and is a very nice addition to the Phnom Penh landscape.

Go in the evening is highly recommended. Not too hot and you get to enjoy the fresh air or do some jogging. Good place to bring your kid for biking or rollerblading as well.

The same one as National Monument. We have been there on the Water Days in Cambodia! Was really cool big party a lot of people really friendly! And the organisation was perfect! Police traffic control! Next level! It was a good time and these fireworks

Always bring kids here to respect our late king on the weekend and do some jogging. Normally people come here to do jogging as well on their weekends. Not so many people riding bike because it is too small space but we can play other sport such as badminton, football, jogging.

Yes the same guy that's appears on the Riel notes have a statue for him here. National pride, not far from Independence Monument. Worth a visit, there are some nice and clean gardens around.
