A quite island in a filthy town. Surprising this iland is clean and well maintained. This is the only place in Sihanoukvill, where you fine peace and get to stay away from the craziness of Sihanoukvill.

Nice beaches, jungle and the possibility to disconnect for a few days. A must visit if you are in Sihanoukville. Chill vibes and not a big party island, the perfect place for a few relaxing days

Has to go down as one of the best islands I have stayed on.. Reminds me of Thailand back in the early 90's. No electricity or cars which is great. Only generators. We stayed in the middle of Saracen Bay for 1 week at Moonlight Resort and loved it. True island life. Picture perfect paradise. Beach was very clean when we were there where as Sihanoukville was filthy. We were lucky as it was Dry, Super HOT 36 and no wind. The water was about 28 degrees. The selection of food on the island was great especially at the various resorts. Some amazing seafood on offer for dinner. We managed a few walks through the island jungle to Lazy Beach on the other side to watch the sunset. Rented a SUP paddleboard for a few hours and checked out the bay which was fun. If you want to chill then this is a great spot. If you want more action go to Koh Rong.

Beautiful island but quite a lot of garbage everywhere and all prices a bit expensive even for an island. But there are gems if you want to walk through the jungle or take a boat to the empty beaches. Picture from buck beach.

Koh Rong Samloem is located off the coast of Sihanoukville in Cambodia and is still relatively unknown. During my stay in Sihanoukville I did a day trip to Koh Rong Samloem and absolutely loved the island. It is a little paradise that welcomes you on arrival with a beautiful white sandy beach and crystal clear water. There are several ways to get to this insider tip from Sihanoukville. However, before you book a ticket, you should be sure of where the boat is going. Sometimes it confuses something that the neighboring island is also called Koh Rong, without "Samloem". The boats on the island all depart from Serendipity Beach Pier in Sihanoukville. If you booked accommodation they will often organizes the transfer to the island. If not you can buy boat tickets in many hotels, travel agencies or directly at the pier in Sihanoukville. Boats from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong Samloem leave twice a day at 8:30 and 3:00 pm. The boat ride takes about 45 min. and costs between 10-15 $ per trip. Prices vary between high & low season (June - Sept.).

I have no comparison to the other islands, but at least it is true what the guide book is telling: after sunset you need to read a book or play cards. No noisy party people on that island!!
The only drawback here is the Chinese, and really annoying, day tourists hanging around in front of your huts and disturbing the quietness while relaxing in the sun But this is normally only between 10am to 2pm
You really need to choose carefully your hotel, since a lot of beach parts are full with plastic waste and also the water is.
So my recommendation is the most northern quarter of Saracen Bay (and Saracen Bay Resort would be my recommendation for your stay).response / report this review -

Paradise on earth, that’s the word I describe this island. You’ll love everything there, especially walking into the jungle to the other side of the island.

It was beautiful, but a little too touristy for me. I went during the rainy season so it's off peak and nice and quiet, but I can imagine how crowded it can get during peak season. It is a great place for relaxation still, away from the city and the mainland beaches. Long stretches of beaches along clear green-blur waters and the winding paths perfect for leisure strolls.
I didn't stay on this island, but there were many rentable bungalows dotted along the waterside, a couple of meters away from the warm sea waters.response / report this review
