Bugs is a great place, it is a very nice bar and cafe that serves Khmer insects, crocodile, etc. cooked in a french cuisine style. A very innovative and successful concept. The ambiance is also very nice so this is also a good place to hang out and just have a few beers with friends while trying some shared plates of tarantula, grasshoppers, and assorted other things that crawl in the jungle.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Not all bugs were for me but I was pleasantly surprised by some. You really can't knock it til you try it.
The experience was pretty nice. The discovery plate made it easier to decide (there is like all kinds of bugs in it)
The owner is really passionate and take his time to explain what kind of bugs you got on the plate and the benefits of eating them.
At the end, it was really tasty and full of flavor. Close your eyes and go for it. You don't even think it was bugs if you don't see them !
Awesome place. The owner explained everything on the menu and then again when it be out. A safe place to try some unusual but delicious things. Good location and nice set up.
A really unique experience that is very different and puts you on edge just looking at the food. Seeing a massive scorpion on a skewer made us feel quite nervous. Staff are courteous and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They also explain everything you are eating and the apparant health prospects of eating bugs. Get the discovery platter. In general the place is very expensive but the discovery platter was excellent because it was a little bit of everything. They do sell meals without insects if you really can't hack it on the day. :)
Very interesting place, to try and tastes "bugs", the French owner is there to help, and he can explain the how you will love insects in your mouth and belly... In fact it was surprisingly tasty because of the chef.. For me it was easy, but for my friend less,.. It's all in the head! Remenber we french eat frogs n snails, and most people can eat shrimp.. So! Just try and enjoy,... Place is cool.
Great service. Relaxed atmosphere... and whilst the menu is quite diverse it's actually very tasty. Great crickets and enjoyed the spider too.
Read about this interesting culinary spot in the Lonely Planet guide book and figured why not! The experience was superbly pleasant from start to finish. The owner, a friendly, fun, enthusiastic gentleman was very thorough, helpful and ...encouraging. The food itself was delicious . Yes they are insects, yes it takes a mental leap of faith but yes you will be fine and you will feel full and satisfied. I did stick around for dessert (opted for no insects) which was beyond delicious. I highly recommend you make this place a stop during your Siem Reap travels! It will at the very least be something to talk about!
Although it may sound and look scary but the waiters/owner are there to explain their menu from A to Z in a humorous way that somehow makes you feel confident to try their gross dishes. I tried tarantula, silk worms, ants, dragonflies and crickets, they're OKAY, taste good (as in the sauce and presentation and freshness). But beware if they're someone in your group that might be allergic. My friend had allergy right after the meal and got red dots over his neck. We got him to a nearby pharmacy for medicine and he was ok after that.
Definitely an experience, recommended you try everything if you get the bug tapas. Was a bit expensive and didn't fill me up. Otherwise, staff were friendly and enthusiastic about the experience they were providing.
We had the discovery plate to share amongst 4 people. It was my first time trying insects so i had a little trepidation, but the owner wonderfully explained everything and the best way to eat it. More or less everything just tasted like very crispy seafood or chicken, the scorpion body was a bit bitter and the water bug was extremely crispy, but all in all it was an excellent meal, and a fantastic i introduction to insects. The restaurant had also created a really lovely environment inside and out.
What an incredible experience. The level of food, presentation and education is first rate. We had never come across anything like this and it is a must do dinner/drinks if you're in Siem Reap. The teach you all you need to know about how each bug is prepared and give a lot of guidance on how to order depending on your level of comfort in trying new things. Some great signature cocktails to go with the unique menu of foods. The food photographs alone are worth the visit! We had the sampler platter that had a variety of different things to try. We had a go at all of it, but the tarantula feta cheese samosa was the standout as well as the extremely well rehearsed welcome/education pitch.
What a fantastic personal challenge and experience.
Owner was amazing explaining everything. Recommend small tasting platter for 2.
In saying that we decided that we're only here once so added a scorpion on a skewer - best decision as it was so meaty and tasty!
Finished with silkworm and mango flambe.
All dishes beautifully presented with great taste combos.

Highly recommend this experience! Go for it!
Great restaurant, owner and helpful staff.
Expensive bugs (Cambodian standards) but if you are in to try once in a life time bugs menu I'd suggest to come here, try them and be safe rather than eating questionable stuff on the street. Everything tasted good. Snake soup and crocodile kebab are excellent and normal food plus they got non-bug menu. Highly recommend.
I recommend trying one of the discovery platters, although not very cheap you get to try a lot of stuff. The small one, costing $14 was enough as a meal for two.
The food was surprisingly good, my favourite being the ant spring rolls.
French Cambodiam fusion dishes. Actually serving bugs but they look nice. Good place to try new sorts of food. Decorations and atmosphere are cozy and bright. Kind chef and staffs.
For those of you who are on the cusp of eating bugs and are in Siam Reap, go here. They cook them in a way that makes them actually look good as well as taste, well I'll say just OK because it's bugs. Don't get me wrong, the food is actually well made and tasty but something about the bugs still kinda got to me. Service is a fantastic and the owner came out and told us about everything which is nice.
