Fun when it's technically operated n naturally stable n smooth. Safety should definitely need to be taken n put in place until it becomes a rather nightmare for both local n foreign tourists.
Location now moved to below Banan Temple.
History and reports of the original bamboo train sound great, unfortunately the original is no more and they have built this purpose built tourist attraction as an imitation. It looks like they are trying their best but it didn’t meet the expectations set by the original at all. Short train ride (maybe 10 minutes) on a little engine powered vehicle with bamboo floor on top of the wheels, with a sofa or big cushions to sit on. Pass by some farm fields and green hills to the other end where there were some food stalls set up, and some bamboo houses on stilts that people explored (but no signs or information of what to do, if you should explore the houses) while the drivers turn the trains around on a turning circle. Then return to the start.
We have it a chance and it was fine, it was pleasant seeing the landscape and something a bit different. They are obviously still working on some buildings and I imagine will have more cafes or activities set up in time. Also appeared to have done planting along the train line so the journey itself might get prettier. However, don’t go expecting the original charm, rustic and uncomfort described in older reviews!
You must be lucky to find bamboo train around here because they are renovating the tracks.
For tourists there is now a bamboo train theme park near Banan temple, not very authentic.
Everything is brand new and it's lost what charm I imagine the old railway had. It's a fun activity with nice views across the countryside.
I had my experience here and it was so amazing. You will see rhe culture and the different situations and activities that the Khmer do. Hoping to still see this for more and more years!
The first experience and great time to try this kind of funny thing to do during our trip in Battambang city. so very real rush of train like on games that i use to play at home and now i tried the real rush train as bamboo train. so if you travel to battambang city then dont missing this place it's will make you happy and memories too

Recommend to do this. worth to visit you also can talk with the local people when you finished the way to go you can have about 20 mins to look around. very nice experience
Different tourist attraction. But one will feel sad about it. The railway lines are not functional since 1970's so the local people had created a means of transport by placing a bamboo platform upon four rail wheels and fixing an old kerosene engine. Afraid that there is no safety features involved.
OK. Bit of overpriced fun. Trained down to a tacky run down tourist trap. If you don't buy, driver pretends to have a breakage. Lucky we had some locals with us who took him to task.
As the worlds most unique train, it is a 'must do' while in Battambang. However, beware that during the return back the driver will 'take a break' in front of some local family's home where you will feel obligated to buy something from their stalls. Also at the end of your ride the driver will demand a tip for his services.
Very busy attraction as I guess it is a 'must do' while in Battambang. I enjoyed the ride with the nice scenery but it is quite long so just a bit samey after the first 5 minutes. It also it has a tourist trap before you turn around at the end with lots of kids trying to sell you bracelets. Overall it was ok nothing more, nothing less.
Cambodian innovation at it's best! The tickets are 5$ per head. You ride for 20 mins to a hamlet, spend a few minutes there are ride back. These can be deceptively fast! The only negative is that they pester you to buy souvenirs and tip the bamboo train driver, irrespective of the steep 5$ price.
Great experience! The whole 2-way ride took around an hour The ride itself was quite fun and there were also pretty views of greeneries and fields. Quite pricey for foreigners ($5 per person), but worth checking out if you're in the area.
We loved it - $5 a person. We biked there from the city which was great, and as soon as we arrived, we were off! It was dry season so the fields weren't much to look at but the experience was awesome!

It was a fun ride! $5/person if you join a group or if there are more than 2 people. If it's only one person, then it's $10. Be prepared for the sunshine, use sunscreen! Most of the ride won't have any shade at all. You'll "rest" at the end point for 20 minutes or more depending on the flow of tourists, it's more like a rest for the driver than for us. We wanted to go back so badly. Tips are STRONGLY encouraged, so prepare some smaller bills.
阳光强烈,记得防晒。全程加上在目的地的休息时间一共1个小时到1小时20分钟左右。建议早上一早来,不然会很热。最后工作人员会强烈建议你给司机小费.
Really Nice experience and first class travelling. Sit down on the bamboo platform while you enjoy the beautiful environment of Battambang! Only 5 dollar per person!
Wife loved it. I found it fun but a bit bone rattling. Still, it's fun to do so if you're in the area you really have to do it.
