We visited Rondo for two nights as a getaway from Nairobi. The grounds and landscaping at the retreat are beautiful and the environment is so pleasant. Our cabin looked out over lush gardens and the lawn at the entrance to Kakamega Forest. The cabin itself was wonderful and rustic in nature, but adequate for our needs. Wycliffe and Winston, two individuals who helped us during our stay, were very delightful and cheerful hosts. However, the reason I am only giving 4 stars is because I felt a less cheerful attitude from most of the other staff -- especially in the dining hall. While the food was pretty good, the waiting staff hardly ever smiled and did not seem friendly. Meals were somewhat awkward as a result. We felt similarly about David who runs the retreat center. You would expect a very vibrant, welcoming individual as the host -- but we didn't get this impression, and it left a negative feeling.

After the safaris and beaches of Kenya, Kakamega forest is the place to visit. Rondo retreat is an excellent hotel to stay. The design is colonial traditional and setting is beautiful. Plus, the price is right.

I stayed one night. A beautiful place to stay. A little island of civilization in the rain forest. We went for a walk into the forest. There sure were a lot of monkeys in the trees!
The food was excellent. So was the service.
It was a very pleasant, relaxing experience.
(Looks like Google map showed Rondo Retreat being in town. Rondo Retreat Lodge is actually out in the forest.)

ที่ทำการสำนักงาน รวมไปถึงบ้านพักสำหรับนักท่องเที่ยว สวยงามเข้ากับสภาพแวดล้อม ทุกอย่างโดยรอบสะอาด โดยเฉพาะห้องน้ำ สะอาดมาก สภาพป่าสมบูรณ์ดีมาก สัตว์ป่าเล็กๆ เช่นลิง นก มีให้เห็นรายทาง เสียอย่างเดียว ที่นี่เก็บค่าไกด์นำทางแบบรายหัว ถ้าต้องการเดินชมธรรมชาติโดยรอบอุทธยาน จะต้องจ่าย 500 เคนยาชิลลิ่งต่อ 1 คน ถ้ามากัน2-3คนก็จ่าย รวม 1500เคนยาชิลลิ่ง แต่ถ้ามากกว่านั้นก็นับว่าแพงพอสมควร

A wonderful tranquil place - designed for Christian missionaries to take time out but open to all and so very beautifull. Not close to town as place to stay other than for the rain forrest it is located in.
