  Incredible history and museum up in Ohara area of Kyoto. Amazing frosted plants from the first snow the day I was blessed to visit. I will never forget the magic here.

  天台宗の寺院で天台宗五門跡の一。山号は魚山。開創は延暦年間 (782～806年)、最澄が比叡山東塔南谷に建立した円融房に始まる。大治5年 (1130年) 堀河天皇の皇子最雲法親王が入寺して以来、宮門跡。応仁の乱後、明治4年 (1871年) 現在地へ移転した。境内にある往生極楽院は久安4年 (1148年) の建立 (重文)、内部には大和座りで両脇侍の阿弥陀三尊坐像 (国宝) を安置する。

  三千院は、「おみくじ」発祥の地だと言われています。ここのおみくじは難解ですが、近くにいるお坊さんに聞くと、わかりやすく教えてくれるそう。あと、超・私的統計によるが、ここのおみくじは「凶」が出やすい！！！
