We've been staying at a fair amount of hotels (this was Number 5) on our trip with per night prices ranging from 12,000¥ to 30,000¥ with this place being the most expensive of the lot. Ignoring the price, this hotel was the worst of the 5.

The best way to describe it is a western hotel in Japan. It lacks all the positives the other hotels, even the cheapest, had in common: the staff weren't as helpful, the room was dirtier, the room felt cramped even if it was bigger than some others we'd stayed in, the drains were noisy all night due to rain, there was a hall light right outside our room blasting light in to the room through a window above the door All night, the breakfast was mediocre, everything is covered in their Nara park logo even if the contents are low quality, three mineral water wasn't even complimentary (!).

For half the price we got 2x better in 2 other hotels in every way. This place is the homeopathy equivalent of hotels, those that like it are more likely convincing themselves it is good rather than it actually being worth your time and money.

If you're only looking to spend a day or two in Nara stay at the JUNEI hotel in Kyoto and get the train in. It costs less, gives a wonderful fusion of old and new Kyoto, had in room onsens(!), Serves better food and the staff are awesome.

Beautiful hotel but honestly lacking. Great location but over priced food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The rooms in the new building are large which is a nice change from the tiny rooms I've experienced in my prior stays at other hotels in Japan. Another nice thing is that they will hold your luggage if you arrive early. Nice scenic hotel close to shopping and shrines but overpriced.

This was a hotel that was booked for our study abroad group. It definitely felt classier than what we would have typically found ourselves at. The Japanese design on the outside contrasts the very Western inside design. The antique style of the bathroom and other interior elements was quite charming. Only stayed one night so I couldn't really speak of how good services were. Its proximity to a Buddhist temple and Todaiji are also of note. We rented bikes (I believe from the hotel) to bike to see the great Buddha statue. When one of the bikes had a flat, our professor called the hotel and they sent a taxi up to help us out.

A 15min walk from the NARA station and 5 min walk to the Nara park the deer park makes this hotel a perfect place to stay.Rooms are small and each room has its view of city with mountain line. The breakfast is a set Japanese or western menu you just have to choose which of this 2 you want to go for as both are great. They have a shop inside the hotel selling every kind of souvenir. Do not forget to enter the tea lounge it is filled with great history of royals and great people who stayed in this hotel.

Gorgeous hotel. It has beautiful views and a very nice atmosphere. You can relax at the tea time in the restaurant while viewing a beautiful landscape. You might even see some deer roaming around.

Excellence. From the moment you arrive the service is exceptional. The building on the outside looks like a Buddhist temple and inside like the Plaza Hotel in NYC. Room (an upgrade) was spacious and beautiful with view of the park. Small details like a carafe of ice water and a kettle of water maintained at near boiling in the room show how they take care of their guests. I highly recommend Nara Hotel if you are planning a stay in Nara.
