  石清水八幡宮のある男山は、木津・宇治・桂の３つの川の合流点を挟んで天王山と対峙する位置にあり、交通・政治上でも重要な拠点でした。この要の地に御鎮座されている八幡大神を祀る神社は、全国に約四万社にもなるそうです。
