An amazing experience as a westerner. The onsen baths were beautiful and relaxing. The staff were incredibly service oriented and from the kimonos to traditional meals we were waited on pleasantly and professionally. The location isn’t the best to the old town but they have shuttles every 30 minutes anyways. The sukiyaki in our own private room was a true foodie experience with the special regional Hida Beef. I highly recommend this traditional Ryokan/Onsen to anyone visiting Takayama.

Good service and clean. A bit like sitting in business class of airline, I.e., the hotel staff remember your name and preferences. The food however wasn't particularly special. I've had better in other ryokans.

Amazing experience!
Welcomed at the hotel with a welcome drink, you are guided through the building and your room by the person that will be helping you the rest of your stay.
My wife was asked to choose her yukata.
We enjoyed the hotspring and the traditional dishes with hida beef.
Great quality of service room and generally speaking.
The hotel has a bus that will bring you to the train station or to the morning market street.response / report this review -

In early June 2014, when my wife and I were about to reach the hotel, a gentleman staff was already waiting outside to greet us, remarking in English that:"I've never seen guests coming here with a sports car!" From the traditional look and feel, you could not be mistaken that it is a classy Japanese style hotel. In addition to the excellent service, including pretty exclusive hotel shuttle to the morning market, you get very nice Japanese food and hot tubs, more or less for what you pay for!

My wife and I just visited Hanaougi during our honeymoon and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The accommodations and service were impeccable. Food was also delicious. We would definitely stay there again.

Our hostess were just an angel. The place is amazing with fantastic food. We enjoyed our private onsen bath and we had beds (no futons). Top class ryokan. First class service.
