It's a steep narrow drive up to the castle but worth it for the views. Parking is free.

Both the climb and the museum are worth it. The castle is rebuilt but loses none of its charm as it is reconstructed using wood like the original structure. A striking snow white color with a museum inside. This castle was also voted best castle in 2015. I can see why, The castle overlooks the town like something out of a fairly tale and the views from the top are striking. Gujo Hachiman is easily my favorite city in all of Chubu and for certain in Gifu-ken.

Pretty castle up the hill- you can drive most of the way if you have a car (and public transport is quite hard to use to reach this area so you'll probably be in a car). We were pleased to be handed a leaflet in English only to see that the English part only extended to the front page! Good views from the top though.
