I stayed here with my boyfriend during our 1-day stop at Kanazawa on our way to Toyama.

    1. The location is great -right behind the Kenrokuen garden so it is quiet, but sufficiently close to all the attractions in the city of Kanazawa.

    2. The hotel is tiny, I think 10 rooms? They renovated the "kura", a traditional Japanese architecture for storage house (which was present in every large house). They have a lounge area that is tastefully decorated with eclectic mix of old/new and western/traditional. Oh, they serve coffee and tea for free and also will make you a little snack to go with your alcoholic drink if need be.

    3. Room is small. We weren't expecting a luxurious hotel (it was a bundle deal with the shinkansen ticket) but even for a Japanese standard, it's small. Having said that, we literally only stayed in the room to shower and sleep so it didn't matter.

    4. BREAKFAST. Alright, seeing how small the place is, we were thinking of simply egg-and-toast type of breakfast. We were wrong. We had soup, omelette, meat, fruits, freshly squeezed juice, bread, and coffee. If you have a special dietary needs, all you have to do is to let them know at the check in.

    5. ALSO upon checking in, they thoroughly pointed and marked the map (which they provided) of the sites and restaurants they recommend.

    6. On the second floor is a mini lounge space too, where you can have free coffee/tea/cookies, use their computer, read books or newspaper. Again, very tastefully decorated. There is wifi, which worked on my boyfriend's phone but not mine.

    7. Lastly, we were late for checkout by half an hour or so but they didn't charge us extra.

Overall it's an adorable little family-owned business. Do support them!

Disclaimer: We are both fluent in Japanese and we didn't have issues communicating. I don't know if they will be able to communicate as efficiently in English but I will tell you that they will try their absolute best.

    親切、丁寧、落着いたて清潔かんを感じます。カード支払い出来れば、5つ星ですが。。。そこがまた良いかも知れませんね。
