日本酒が好きな方にはいい宿です。ご主人が集めた地元でも入手困難な地酒を試飲させていただき選ぶこともできます。そのお酒にまつわるお話を聞かせていただくだけでも楽しいです。
料理はマグロとくじらの両方が出ます。めずらしいくじら料理も食べたいけど、くじら料理ばかりでもという方には丁度いいと思います。宿泊した日はマグロのカマの塩焼きを出していただきましたが、焼きたてはとてもおいしかったです。response / report this review -

Nice simple place and centrally located (next to train station for tourists). The onsen was nice, but it was weird how all the sinks did not have hot water taps.
The best part here was the food. The sashimi was fresh and delicious. And what stole the show was the Tuna jaw. Really good food.
Would definitely come back and recommend a visit here.response / report this review -

Great value, wonderful hosts, good location, and amazing food! Wakatake is in a great location next to the train station (but don't worry there are not trains running late at night), though views are not worthy of note. Super friendly couple who owns the hotel and cafe underneath--they were wonderful to work with and accommodating. I also like the room I received--the futon was very comfortable, the a/c worked great, and the common area drinks and fridge were perfect. I absolutely LOVED the very hot onsen as well after a long day of hiking (and for the previous rater who noted the tub was dirty, I assure you it is not--it is red because of the high iron and sulfur content of the REAL hot springs water that fills the onsen--but the shower area and the tub were very clean). My favorite thing though was the meal that I ordered the 2nd night at the hotel wow, what a feast, and the husband provided great sake recommendations to accompany the meal.
Although I attribute the off smell in the common bathroom to the high sulfuric content in the water, the bathroom didn't smell great. Seriously though, that is all I can say I didn't like!response / report this review -

The hotel is next to Kii Katsuura station. Check-in time at 3 PM., can not leave the luggage at the hotel before check-in time. The room is clean. The bathroom (saperate male/female) has an onsen tub, during 5 pm - 10pm. There is free drink zone, coffee and tea, anime book shelf. Worth for paid.
