Great service and amenities. Food was spectacular.
You should not take the dinner. It was not good for 20,000. Rooms smell. I did not like the experience for 3hr of travel from Osaka.
The rooms are big and well equiped. The diner is quite expensive (2000 or 3000) and honestly not worth it But except if you have bought food earlier You'll not have any other options because everything in the village closed after 6pm
The entire area is a place to visite but it seems that's now it's really builded up for tourists and it's not at all authentic anymore.
Anyway If you do it Go for a walk in the cimetery and all the temples around They are beautifull.
The focus has shifted to much to tourism and making profit. So if you want to experience the old way of the monks. This is not the place anymore. The landscape however is great. There is a nearby graveyard which makes for a very peaceful walk.
Perhaps the most authentic experience of the trip. Traditional rooms and beds, for most Westerns that part might be a challenge as for us it's like sleeping on the floor. That said, the experience of having a traditional breakfast while sitting on our knees, and then the bhuddist morning chant was absolutely worth it. The location was next to a nice cafe and the cemetery. Koyasan itself was a beautiful town rich in culture.
good hotel to learn buddha
On the plus side it feels very authentic however the food is really not good. I live in Japan so it's not just a cultural thing- I know what it's supposed to taste like. It's pretty dirty and old. This makes for an adventurous rustic feel but it's only cool for the first 30mins or so. The Ofuro is small and kinda dirty. If you go in winter prepare to FREEZE or worry about the CO2 from the kerosene heater. The man running it was very nice and the temple/meditation spot was very attractive.
Lovely place to stay!
One of my top experiences in life
This should be the cheapest temple accommodation in Koyasan. Don't expect too much. The garden is nice.
