They were renovating the rooms when we were there. Once it's done the rooms would be between a 4 & 5 star rating.

First time staying at a Mövenpick, and based on this experience, also the last.

After we arrived and checked in at around 16:30, we discovered that the hotel is undergoing major renovations, which meant construction noise/dust/smells everywhere. These were very prevalent in our corridor, which meant that we could not have an afternoon nap. We also found that there were no safes in the room, nor anywhere to hang wet towels. Although it seemed like our room had recently been renovated, the building standards were shoddy at best, and some of the fixtures were poorly installed.

Instead, we decided to have a drink, and were informed by reception that this would not be possible because the bar only opens at 18:30. After pointing out that this is not really how a 5-star hotel operates, there was only a shrug of the shoulders, and an indication that there would be an effort to find the barman. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I went to reception, but found it empty. I also knocked on the manager's door but there was no response. After a while more, we were eventually served by a very surly barman, although the drinks order was correct.

At dinner, we were horrified to discover that some of the food was just warmed up leftovers from previous days - especially noticeable with the roast potatoes and desserts. However, some of the food was actually quite tasty, but the service was also pretty poor by some of the waiters.

The next morning, we reported a blown light bulb, and found it in the same state when we returned from our day trip that afternoon. Also, while trying to make tea, we had to move furniture to find the plug, and discovered a pile of dust, which didn't say much about the attention to details of housekeeping.

The shower was a lukewarm affair, and for a change, dinner didn't seem to include warmed up leftovers, although it seems no one knows how to roast potatoes in that kitchen. The service was also much better on the second evening, due to different staff on duty.

At breakfast on our last day, we again found that the usual pastries were stale - at least a day old, if not more.

At checkout, the credit card paypoints were not working, which was an issue for us to settle our bill.

Other than the comfortable beds and clean rooms, there is very little that can redeem this hotel, and the fault is squarely on the management. Even if the building standards were top notch, the lack of leadership means poor staff training and therefore poor service. The entire managerial staff should be retrained or replaced if there is any hope of improving the service at the hotel - I suggest they spend one night at the W Amman to experience a real 5-star hotel.

In any case, the hotel should not be accepting bookings during major renovations!!!

In 11 years of travels, this was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Even if this was a once-off, it really does not reflect well on the Mövenpick group. From now on, we will make sure to avoid this hotel group.

i did not enjoy my stay. Food was disgusting, and facilities were quite old. I do not understand why it is a 4 stars hotel. The only positive thing is the views. If I would be back in Petra, I would never stay here.

The hotel restaurant staffs are so rude and not trained to be humble

This hotel is consider 4 or 5 star hotel

But the service is NO STAR

I think the management should educate their staffs at the restaurant to be more professional and not to act arrogance and gangster.
