Grew up at 17 charlotte Street 1956 to 1965.
    My great grandfather Papa Charlie
Lee was a fisherman. He would always bring lots of crabs home. Lorna, Pauline and I had fun cooking and devouring those crabs. For me fish was not liked as my great grand aunt, Gramma who sent me fried or stewed fish and seasoned rice on Sundays was of oriental descent was old and really wrinkled. I thought that i would become old and wrinkled if i ate from her. .would bawl. Mom had to always try to convince me that I could not get that way by eating the food she sent. Years later I found out that Gramma was not the cook of those meals. My friends and I would walk down Charlotte Street, cross over Tower Street, pass the salvation church to the sea shore but not before stopping at Georgie's shop at the corner to buy sweetie. We sometime stop by the bakery next door to Georgie where Ballyn would sell hot bread or continue to Miss Owe's new store,a supermarket with an electric snow cone machine near the gully.
My uncle Gerald was a postman. He and I would get up early Sunday mornings to go swimming at sea at the end of Charlotte Street. Fun times were had back in the days. Rae Town. I miss those days.
