The pork was star of the show however the chicken was not all that. The customer service (which is important) was friendly and jerk pit man knows how to bless a pork.. remember to leave a tip guys him deserve it.
This is a hidden gem nested on the Montego Bay hip Strip and has that nice rustic authentic Jamaican feeling. The grills/wooden stoves are in the open so you get to see your chicken or pork being jerked with all the aromas flowing through the air. My visit was very good apart from the fact that the process to get my food seemed like a hassle. Everything had to be collected at different spots rather than just doing one thing. The seats were not very comfortable and and they were a bit low especially because I was tall. The employees however were very friendly but the customer service overall could have been a lot better. Apart from that, the food was fantastic and even though the temperature was very humid, we were kept cool because of all the trees surrounding the restaurant. It was not cheapest place I’ve been to and the prices were in the much mid range. It’s definitely not an everyday spot but worth the visit at least twice per month.
Great flavors ,great variety, a very casual atmosphere, good price and like that choose item from the menu a have great meal full of flavor and if u don't want good meal u can still choose the sides.. A jerk center. Nice Good parking
The worst experience I have had in a long time and the worst ever in Jamaica! I usually go to scotches but I saw this establishment had great reviews and it was on our way to Negril. The young lady that was in charge of collecting our drinks and sides had the worst attitude that I have every experience in a restaurant and I’m a family of foodies and an executive chef. She was very rude while getting our drinks and then had an attitude when I asked for more utensils. Four of us ordered the food but we were a party of 12. To not mess up my just arrived in Jamaica vibe we just shared forks and napkins. They also do not have plates so we had to brake up the to go containers in three so everyone has something to eat on. They should of at least had foil for people to use. The jerk was very good and they had three different jerk sauces from mild to hot so that was great since our group liked both hot and mild sauces. For spending close to $100.00 US in food I will never return because of the disrespectful service from that staff member and I would recommend everyone to skip this location and go to scotches where they value customer service along with their great jerk dishes. If the management cares my visit was on Saturday 2/3 around 1:00PM. The lady that took the order and the cooks in the back were very pleasant.
Best jerk bbq in Jamaica. Great local crowd. Pork, chicken, sausage, red stripe. Yes worth the visit. Great outdoor seating.
I love the open pit cooking. It is not clear when you get there that you have to order inside get your sides and then go to the grill and get your meat. The staff was very nice and the place was clean. The food was delicious. We got a pound of pork. It was enough for dinner and lunch the next day for the 2 of us.
OMG you totally have to go here - that's what every guidebook and blogger will say, only because someone else said it first and they want to seem like they know what they're talking about. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but that's it, just good. Eat here once just to say you did it, or just be your own person and continue living your life.
The food here is wonderful! I had such a great time in Jamaica, and I am very glad I stopped here, to eat. I recommend the jerked pork and chicken! The people here, we're extraordinarily pleasant. Very helpful staff, and, as I stated earlier, the food is absolutely fantastic! I can hardly wait to visit again! Perhaps, I will stay longer the next time!
Best Jamaican food experience so far. They knew how to make good pork. Not too pricey - compared to restaurants nearby. Close to both downtown and the tourist strip. You order at the bar and go to the grill to get your meat. Nice overall experience!
The most reasonably priced food establishments in Montego Bay for authentic Jerk Pork and Chicken. For the non pork eaters, they are prepared and served seperately.
Portions are excellent.
I gave it a 4 because I think a bit more could be done in terms of ambience. This place has a lot going in its favour already.
Great tasting food. Pork and jerk chicken.
My favourite for porkwell chicken is not all bad too
Nice food love going for lunch here with my sweet heart
This place is great! I recommend the pork. Being from Minnesota and eating in that environment was completely different than what I am used to but so worth it.
It was a great experience. I like the food.. #thepeppershrimptho
The Pork Pit is one of the better places in Montego Bay for Jerk Pork. However, sometimes they seem to have "off days." During ship days the line can be extremely long, and wait time for locals on a lunch break can be horrifying. However, on days when there is no cruise ship in port, the Pork Pit is a great place to sit and dine, or even take out. The pork is cooked over real pimento wood--perhaps the only jerk center still doing this. The Pork Pit is located on what the locals call "Bottom Road," which is the same as Gloucester Road and is open every day. I gave them four stars because of the flies. I hate flies!
Has managed to be consistent however they could try and inovate. Never the less its still a better than some OTHERS.
Its a cool environment to hang out and relax with friends on vacation. The pork was really nice but for some reason, that bammy was absolutely dry and hard with no taste. I could do a better job. It was not soaked in anything and just thrown in the oven. I only went because its been years since i stopped by but i guess their zest has gone. Better luck next time, somewhere else of course!
Really good place to go for something to eat in Jamaica Montego Bay loved it would recommend it thumbs up:-)
Decent location, obstructed view of Aquasoal beach park, smoke from the cooking often engulfs the seating area as well vendors clothing. It should be vented to allow smoke to rise above the canopy rather than under it. Food decent, they cater to the cruise ships with both selection and availability of food (ribs) and pricing.
Very good BBQ chicken and pork. The place is just outside of Montego Bay, easy to park. Friendly and helpful staff.
The food is incredible. I had the jerk chicken wings (which is more of a stew style sauce) . . OMG it was everything I hoped for. I had the rice and peas and fries. All cooked just right. Only wish staff would explain that you get your own meal when it's ready and the rest of the meal is picked up from around the outside grill where they was cooking the rest of the meal at.
This place was my all time favorite out of all the places I been to, I mean food so good it will put you to sleep. The coco bread was everything. Everything I got to eat was the bomb plus some. I would come back to Jamaica just to eat here
