Had an amazing experience at this resort. Great place with excellent food, top-grade accommodation, and wonderful hospitality. We were thrilled to have a nanny taking care of our kids (5 & 7) and various activities that were available to adults as well as to kids. Plus, there is an open bar which is part of your vacation package! Will highly recommend.

Truly a chilled-out, unpretentious, comfortable place completely geared around vacationing with kids.
It's a small, intimate resort. You see the same families each year (we've been three years in a rowand there were plenty on their fifth or sixth visit). The staff, and even other guests, know you and your kids, and this takes the pressure off having them in your sight the whole time.
It's not flashybut that's part of its charm - you can just relax and focus on having a good time. Food is greatand each year better than the last. Staff is awesome - restaurant, nannies, and event staff all welcoming, friendly, and committed to ensuring you have a good time.
Tough to describe the welcome feeling when you walk to the bar on your first hour there and are greeted by a favorite staff member that remembers your name from last yearcan't get THAT at a mega-resort!response / report this review -

The staff were really nice. For a picky eater, such as myself, there were a lot good food options. The nanny we had was exceptional. From the pictures on the website, I expected the property to be bigger. However, it was spacious enough that I could take a nap undisturbed. We will definitely be going back.

This place is a fantastic family resort. Your room comes with a nanny that will watch the kids all day, and at night too for a little extra money.
Our kids had the best time here. They rode down the waterslide at least 100 times. We fished, snorkeled, biked and went on an excursion to a waterfall.
The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We will be going back!response / report this review -

If u have no kids or looking for a luxury resort, then this is Not the place for u
I reserved this place based on other reviews, and could not agree more with everyone else.
looks Jamaican, old and outdated not a typical 5 star resort, having said that I got their best suit, it’s specious and has more beds than other places, I have a 6y son and 2.5 y old daughter. It was perfect for our family of 4.the staff, and nannies are phenomenal the nanny cleans your room every day, helps with everything and your kids till 4:30. After that it’s $9/hr. We used them to some extentbut everyone there used them around the clock. This was our first time here, but a lot of people there had been there more than 10 times!!! No kidding !!!the food is good!! They make sure u have the best time, and if u are unhappy with your room or sth, they will make sure to do changes to make u happy! I was unhappy the first night when we arrived in the rain shower. I wasn’t impressed with the place or food but the following days I was pleasantly surprised!!! This is a cozy, famiy owned place. The only reason I don’t give them five star, is because it’s not a luxury or 5 star resort. The air-conditioners in the rooms need to be on auto so they stop after getting to a certain temperature, which they are not like that; and I think pools needs to have lights inside, to make the place prettier.But overall a good experience.. good luck guys! Way beyond my expectation, I wanted to go on vacation but didn't want to spend a lot of money, I researched and found this resort. I was not expecting much, but to my surprised i was blown away. The resort itself is not a Hugh resort, but prepare to be blown away with the rooms. I am still talking about the spacious HOUSE, yes! i mean HOUSE the space that you get for double occupancy is definitely not a room it's a HOUSE. What is even more about this resort is the nanny service that was provided, the service was excellent, the food was great, every thing about this resort was just amazing. My family and i will definitely be returning to FDR. I would highly recommend this resort especially to family who has kids but want time for themselves. Geat choice definitely giving a 5 star.

This place proves never judge a book by its cover. The place could benefit from a paint job. However once you enter your room it's a wow moment. The staff is courteous and helpful. The food is ok l, the atmosphere is great

FDR (Franklin D. Resort) is an all-inclusive charming resort on the beautiful beach of Runaway Bay in Jamaica with the ideal amount of space and the right number of guests. It's the perfect parent’s vacation all in one – especially given the onsite vacation nanny and play areas. A dedicated nanny is included for your kids from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm – parents get a break from kids and kids get a break from parents. All the nannies work together to help facilitate pool time, arts and crafts, and play time in the resort’s kid’s center. Kids can still enjoy the beach and delicious meals with parents during the day. For parents, there is time to relax at the pool or the beach while the kids enjoy their activities. At night, the resort has great Caribbean music and live shows. Our family had a fantastic time and can’t wait to return next summer! Everyone was so friendly. We highly recommend!

Had another excellent stay at FDR. I enjoy staying at a smaller resort with friendly, personable staff who call you by name. I like the variety of room types, the food is much better than giant resorts and it's delightfully casual. Great for families, nanny is included or couples. Looking forward to my next visit!

This 3-star resort deserves more than a fighting chance against the 5-star resorts, especially for parents traveling with kids. It's not modern or fancy, but it gives a real Jamaican vibe. The food was authentic and for the most part delicious. We were there when there were very few families stayingPros: no crowds at pools/ water slide/ beach, and quick food service. Cons: many activities were canceled because there were too few people at the resort to participate, and many restaurants were closed. Regardless we had a great time with the water activities that were offered: kayaking, glass boat ride, fishing, and snorkeling Captain Harry is the best! We spent a lot of time on his boat because he takes you to all the water activities. The hotel staff is so friendly, everyone greets you as you walk through the grounds. The best part is the vacation nanny. Having a 3 month old, I did my fair share of checking up on the nanny to see how she's doing. She was great! Very warm and kind and attentive. She was very experienced and I was comfortable enough to leave my infant with her on the first day (though I never thought I would be!). My husband and I would love to come back when our baby is a bit older because of all the fun activities they have for kids arts and crafts, swimming, tree house, games, tools for playing in the sand, pool floating etc. Despite the dated look of the hotel, I gave a 5 star review because it makes up for its appearance in every other way. Definitely worth the money, I keep recommending this place to all my friends who have kids!

Wonderful vacation resort. Probably the most family friendly resort in the Caribbean. Not a 5 star resort by hotel standards due to aging facilities, but I'd rather go here over much higher priced competitors because of the value you get out of FDR. You can't beat the included nanny service.

Resort is 3.5 stars but I'll give it 4 for being cosy and high in amenities. This is a family focused resort. You get a personal nanny during your stay from 830-440 daily. (Their lunch break is 1230-130). Need Nanny over hours at $9US/hour. Nanny stays with your children and do everything including changing diapers, etc. Takes them to activities which are shown daily. There are activities for toddlers, teens, and adults from 7am to 10pm.
The parents get some private time to themselves doing yoga, exercises, activities, etc. There's tons to list them all here.
Not modern or upscale but again, very cosy. Full of trees and plants - you are in the jungle without the bugs. We got a 2 bedroom suite which is a 2 floor suite. Living/full kitchen on first. Bedrooms upstairs with their own bath. So 3 washrooms in total. Each bedroom got a TV and one in living room.
There's everything you need for your children. There are slides on the pool, on the beach, etc. Playgrounds and activity center, movie night, etc.
Staff are very accommodating and all are friendly to the children. Would trust the staff. Would go again however we like to visit new place every trip.response / report this review -

The place is great for families. The nannies are wonderful. The resort is small and intimate. It is like staying at someone's house. The people that run it are very nice. My family has been there three times. It is really a nice place to vacation with your younger kids and also have some time for yourself.
