This is a regular beach but the vibe is always right. The fish vendors are professionals and they provide great food at affordable prices. The environment is safe and the beach is clean and nice.
Best beach in that's closed to Kingstonvery clean, beautiful white sand beach. Lots of parking. Very affordable cost to enjoy the beach. I loved every minute of it. It's also safe. Security peesent, helpful and friendly.
Wonderful and clean beach. Great for family outings and chilling with friends. Food is great but not amazing. Nice music and friendly staff. UDC is doing a great job.
Fort Clarence Beach is clean convenient and excellent for friends or family reunion. There is a nominal entry fee and you are allowed to bring you igloo unlike other beaches along the strip. Parking is adequate. Changing and restrooms are available. I LOVE the swings! The staff is generally courteous and helpful. Nobody to badger you to buy from their restaurant. Lack of options is however not good for patrons. My friends and I from Excelsior Class of 80 visited one Sunday afternoon. We found a nice spot under a tree. There was a table to place our stuff on and started to have fun. The patrons are usually quite respectful. However on this occasion I had an issue with the smoke and smell of both cigarettes and marijuana. Added to that pollution and nuisance was the noise coming from a boom box belonging to another patron. Call me old fashion but my ideal Sunday afternoon beach settings is laughter, conversations, squealing children, beach games, food and soothing back ground music. Nevertheless, Fort Clarence is still the best beach along the strip.
My recent visit to Fort Clarence was the first in quite a few years, and proved to be a pleasant experience. The property management is presently making improvements to the physical space and I look forward to the end product of that effort. The white sand beach was absolutely clean, and the staff at all areas - gate officers, food sales staff, maintenance personnel, life guards - were all courteous and we'll mannered. Parking was easy and good food and cold drinks aplenty.
I definitely recommend, and plan be back before the summer months.
Loved it here, clean beach with white sand. Water is beautiful. Didn't have the food so can't comment on that. My first time there unfortunately, there were some alligators but the appropriate authorities quickly took control of it and ensured everyone was kept safe and out of the sea. I would definitely visit again though, it's beautiful.
Great beach with clean bathrooms and changing stalls. There are swings for the kids and the young at heart. The numerous food vendors offer lobster, soup, festival, steamed and roast fish and an assortment of drinks. Lifeguards are always on duty so no need to fear drowning.
Great beach for a quick get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's kept clean and has a minimal $250 ($100 kids) per person fee for entry. Also cook shops are on the beach for good seafood meals (escoveitch fish $1400-1600 per pound). If you don't compare it to north coast beaches you'll be 100% satisfied. Enjoy!
The sea gets deep really quickly, about 15 steps into the water. This venue is not suitable for swimming or floating as the waves are strong and the water is deep. But it is good if you're content with just standing in the water and having fun. Good hangout spot for friends and family too, with sufficient seating.
I'd give this beach a pass mark. Very very spacious. Family oriented. Food is present, on sale of course. Parking available. The turn off are the changing rooms, they are just simply HORRIBLE!!!
Beautiful beach and fun waves! Have to pay for entrance and chairs and umbrellas. Just a ton of seaweed when I visited!
Beach opens late for people like me who like to get to the beach early. It's not too crowded unless it's a holiday or special event and good food is prepared fresh for you at reasonable prices. One of, if not the best paid beaches on the south side of the country.
If you are unaccustomed to paying to go to the beach then Fort Clarence may not be for you. An hour from Kingston this is an enclosed beach with admission fee of about $2.50 per adult. Park your car anywhere and find a spot to sit. There's a little hut that sells fresh fish made to order, random vendors selling anything from snacks to souvenirs. There is also a restroom and an outdoor shower
Entry fee is $250. If you go in the early morning it is normally empty. As the day progresses it will get full. Seaweed and debris are always in the water as they don't clean it up. That makes swimming uncomfortable, especially as you're paying to use the facilities. Small bathrooms are provided but are closed promptly at 5pm. There is one working shower and a few scattered benches to sit. Changing rooms are to one side of the beach. There are swings which adults and kids can use. Food is quite pricy and fish/seafood and soup are the only options. Bring your own water and games and a little extra money as men selling cotton candy, sugar cane or pepper shrimps may pass by.
It's an OK beach to go to with the family.
Nice and clean and never too crowed.
You have to take your own food though, because their is no sale on the beach.
Customer service to the T. There was a lot of sea weed coming up on the beach and the were kind enough to ask if we want to look at it and decide if we want to stay. You can take you food so you can plan a big family picnic. Great atmosphere, lovely people.
Nice place to take the family for a beach day out and really close to Kingston too. Food is nice but takes long.
Love seafood? This is cool beach the locals use. It's operated and maitained by a government agency which keeps it well based on the the low cost of entry.
It is clean and secure. Food is good and reasonable. Bathrooms just waaaay out of the way but clean and stocked. Beach does have some fish bones in the sand though that you need to be careful of children playing there.
Nice food , clean , lots of trees and great for a family fun day..lifeguard on hand
Nice spot for relaxing or just hanging out with family and friends. Nice warm waters for swimming
Very windy beach. Sand blows in your face constantly. Can't sit on the sand and just relax peacefully without the sand slowly grinding away and smoothing out every edge of your skin. Perfect place to be sandblasted lol.
Very nice community beach with proper restrooms and washing facilities, nice restaurants, music and an overall vibrant atmosphere. They have security guards at the gate and adequate parking.
Great place to get away to with your family. The food is good but the seaweed takes away from the beach experience
