Nice room. Loose the useless piece of furniture to give more space. Powdered Juice for breakfast where so much fresh fruit is all around . Poor breakfast and hard to get coffee. Great view
Weird bedroom furniture. In the way? Absolutely. Of use? Not at all. Powdered fruit juice at breakfast is astonishing. Lovely swimming pool. Glorious views, really stunning. Has a somewhat corporate feel. Loads of restaurants nearby from which to choose
Excellent hotel, wonderful position. Very clean. Good quality beds and bedding. Right in the heart of Taormina. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Excellent position away from the maddening crowd. Very peaceful and staff polite even the cleaners!. It has an excellent swimming pool with cafè area for a spot of lunch and a magnificent view of the bay
There is a lot to love about the Villa Diodoro. The views are amazing and there are many places to sit and enjoy them. But you can read about that on their web site. I'm going to tell you what bugged me. This is a lovely old hotel, with an emphasis on old. If you are looking for modern amenities, this is not the place. Our room was small and crowded and lacked adequate storage. An antique desk with drop down top was the only flat surface in the room and to access it, you must fold it down so it blocks the way around the bed. No coffee pot, no soap dish, and no black out curtains. Coat hangers with those stupid rings so you can't steal them. Large metal roll down shades are on the outside of the room, which make a lot of noise when in transit. In the morning you hear all of the rooms rolling them up. You need the shades down, or your room will cook in the morning. If the shades are down, you can't access the balcony. Who thought of that? The AC is loud, and either on or off. If you want to get some sleep, just leave the patio door open to let in the sea breeze. Oh, wait, you can't. The metal shades are down.
Bad ergonomics are not my only complaint. There is inadequate sound insulation. We heard our neighbor's footsteps and voices and my wife insisted upon whispering because she was afraid we would disturb our neighbors. When she lit off the blow dryer, I left the room to find a place I could sit down, and could still hear it way down the hall.
This is a hotel that peaked in glory a few decades ago. A minor modern makeover (and new carpets) would turn this place into a 5 star resort again. In the mean time, pack your patience.
Beautiful location

Poorly run hotel. Very mean breakfasts.
Stayed for one week summer 2015.

Lovely hotel - spacious room, great pool with view of the sea and Mt. Etna, and fabulous restaurant. Definitely worth a visit.
