I spent three happy weeks at Hotel Saint Lorenz after I badly hurt my knee on my trip, because I needed a place with an elevator. I cannot recommend it enough. As an American travels overseas a fair amount, my bathroom was a particular comfort, because it had a walk-in shower with good water pressure (not something you can expect at a lot of hotels in older neighborhoods). Also, an overhead fan! - an absolute must in the summer time in Italy. The staff is small, extremely kind, attentive, friendly and professional. It's very secure, because the front door remains locked and there's someone at the front desk 24 hours a day. The morning breakfast is a bonus - delicious local pastries, coffee (a cappuccino, if you want), juices, and the usual fruits and packaged cereal options. Within a couple of blocks, there are a number of great restaurants, including a local hangout, Capri, a Pizza/pasta place owned by the same man who owns the hotel. Really close to the main park, piazza with several bars and a concert hall, and high street.
