I followed a two-week course at Federico II which I really enjoyed. The classes were a perfect mix of learning vocabulary and how to use verb tenses. Chiara was a great teacher who explained everything very well, gave a lot of examples, made you feel comfortable speaking Italian and made the classes a lot of fun. Chiara, Federica e Merrion: grazie mille per tutti! Spero di prendere più lezioni!

Absolutely dreadful experience, particularly if compared with other language schools and notwithstanding all the more or less positive reviews here on the basis of which my original choice had been made. Not a language school but a tiny business consisting of two local women trying to make as much money out of tourists as possible whilst doing as little as possible in return. Most of the profit is made by them from the first one to three weeks of you being there so they will do everything to get you to commit for a short time after which they don't even bother to pretend to do the work. One of them seems to speak and understand very little English so is only available to those who can already speak Italian. Those who don't will have to deal with the other one, Federica. Extremely unstructured, disorganized and painfully dull lessons. As if being taught by someone who has just taken a whole bunch of sleeping pills and is just trying to get through the lesson without falling asleep. Constant lying - first to get you to commit and pay for lessons and accommodation, then to keep cancelling lessons as too lazy to do the work for which she was already paid, then lying again when confronted and asked for the money back. Oh, my Lord, I simply have no words here. Awful.

During my two-week stay, I have learned so much in Federico II Italian Language School and I've also met some incredible people from all over the world.
The cultural activities that were organized by the school helped me learn a lot about the city and the Sicilian culture.
The staff is friendly and kind and the lessons were organized in a way that we talk a lot in Italian but also cover a lot of grammatical stuff as well.

I love this school!! They have great teachers and they put together several events a week that you can attend to see different sites in Catania or just relax at dinner with other students and practice speaking Italian. I've attended this school 3 times on three different trips to Catania and I am very pleased every time! I will be back!

This was one of my favourite experiences while travelling overseas. As well as lessons, the school would throw parties, put on lunches and take us around the city. I spent a whole month at the school and in Catania. I met a beautiful bunch of beautiful people, both the teachers and students were the best. One day I will return xox

I had a great time at Federico II, I have studied at other schools in Italy before and this was the best experience I have had. The school offers a lot of activities outside of class for free and all the other students use Italian outside of class so it makes it easy to practice the language. The location is great, right next to the main piazza of Catania.

Fantastic school! Very warm and friendly! I spent a month and a half studying at this school and I am very pleased with the results. They have a very hands approach to helping students they adjust to your needs and are open to listening to what you want. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel at home. This school also offers a fantastic cooking class that you make be interested in as well.

I had a wonderful time at the language school. I didn’t know anything about Catania so I asked the school, if they could organise a room for me. They knew a family who would take me in, what gave me the opportunity to also speak Italian in my spare time and meet some wonderful people.
The lectures with Giuliana at school were great. I started as an ultimate beginner and learned a lot in two weeks. I really like the teaching style and the setting of the school.
The price-performance ratio of the school is very good, far better than you could get it, if you would book at an Austrian agency.
I will come again and can wholeheartedly recommend the school.response / report this review -

I'm very happy afeter my experience in Catania attending the language course at Federico II school. They have something extreamly important: the staff is very young and full of energy. They are always willing to help, and the school has many conections with other business to organize learning and leisure activities that you can plan your vacation there just based on the Italian language course. There is only one "but" from my point of view. I missed an organized learning plan for the two weeks, which could make the language experience even more impacting.

4 week course of Italian language was one of my best experiences in Sicily so far! The school is situated in the heart of Catania, near Piazza Duomo. I already spoke a little of Italian at the begining but they helped me to improve my language skills. I was very impressed with the quality of the teaching staff, they were well-prepared and insightful, and they made the overall learning experience a very enjoyable one. I also liked the cultural programme which is part of the course, so you really get to know the Sicily, the language and the Italian culture!

I attended a language course in Federico II school in summer 2015. The school is located in the center of Catania near the beautiful Duomo and the market. It has different groups starting from beginners to an advanced level.
Marion, Laura and Federica were great teachers. These nice ladies held lessons in multiple ways: reading, discussion, dialogues preparations, writing, listening and even Italian movies.
The best part was that the language learning continued after school hours. Students from all the groups had joint activities together with the teachers, speaking Italian the whole day of course. We spent time visiting landmarks of Catania, beaches, Etna volcano. We also had a boat trip to Aci Trezza and nights out.
This summer course in Federico II school was an amazing experience for me! Not only did I improve my skills in Italian but I also had fun with new friends.response / report this review -

Friends and I did one of Federica's cooking classes. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a fun and authentic Sicilian cooking experience on a budget!
Federica was extremely friendly and accommodating from the word go. The morning started off with a small walking tour of the market to buy our supplies and some great facts about the city. We then got straight into cooking with the Sicilian chef, making our 4 course meal from scratch. It was easy to follow and we even learnt some Italian along the way. My girlfriend kindly bought me a Sicilian cooking course at this school for my birthday.
It was a fantastic day, we bought locally caught fish from Catania's famous market before cooking it alongside 3 other typical Sicilian dishesthe chef was very knowledgeable and Federica his daughter was a brilliant host!
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in having an authentic Sicilian cooking experience!response / report this review -

In the heart of Catania, Federico II Language School, is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Sicilian culture. Good teachers and personal treatment. Also great activities are organized outside school hours (visits to museums, theatre, beach, sharing a meal with other students).
