One of the best restaurant and my favorite in Rome, authentic food (not junk food for tourists as in many other place), very high value for money. Variety of the dishes is great and every time you go there are few new dishes to taste. Every time I pass in Rome I need to stop here to eat. Staff friendly and very nice. Recommended!!! I am looking forward to be there again

Choose from the daily menu a la carte and enjoy a varied selection of courses (starters, salads, main and desserts)

My husband discovered this little gem by chance while walking around the center of Rome. I resisted going, since we were traveling with our 3 teenagers and thought it sounded a bit too "creative" for them. Big mistake!!!! We went for dinner on our last night in Rome, and my only regret is that we didn't try it earlier on our trip so that we could have gone twice! This little place is run by three young sisters and it is absolutely delicious! It is a bit "creative" in the sense that they prepare dishes with local, fresh, Roman ingredients in a slightly different way than every other place in the city. For instance, I ordered the amitriciana, but the owner recommended instead the similarly prepared pasta with artichokes. It was delicious! My youngest daughter is vegetarian, and il Desiderio has the most interesting and delicious vegetarian options of any restaurant we came across. Smoked cod balls, pasta with sea bass, pecorino cheese with honey . . . I could go on and on. And, to top it off, the service and the wine selection were superb. A fantastic find -- only sad that we couldn't go back!

The menu is short and sweet but the food is amazing. It's a little off the beaten path but a must visit. The pastas from the daily specials were good. We ordered a pasta with salmon and a pasta with fish They were both amazing. Don't forget to wash it all down with their melon dessert. Will be back soon.

Wonderful experience that's really difficult to quantify. Just enjoyed fantastic cuisine with my wife, father, mother and most importantly 3.5 yr old son. The atmosphere was relaxed and extremely welcoming. Our hostess/waitress was an absolute GEM! Went out of her way to engage my son and help to include him throughout the meal. This is a locals restaurant. So much so, the waitress even asked how we found it/decided on it. The fish was excellent, Wine selection was diverse, and baked fruit (pear) with vanilla gelato amazing. Finished off meal with limoncello and grapa. All in all, a perfect evening after touring the Vatican!

A gem hidden on a side street with some of the best food we have had in Italy. Friendly atmosphere, not rushed and great wines!
