Wonderful monument of Norman medieval culture and architecture of XII century. There are magnificent mosaics of Christ and Saints made by Byzantine masters in XII century. Admission is free but any donation is welcomed and highly appreciated. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.
I haven''t gone but I'm doing a project on it and it's absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful cathedral, rustic and less adorned than regular italian cathedrals, but the simplicity was poignant.
Helps that not many tourists are there too!
One of the most beautiful church I have ever seen.
Beautiful cathedral. The front dome is similar in style to Monreale. But the main hall of the church, while grand is simpler and less ornate. Scaffolding was going up for decorations or repairs; partially blocking the front.
Such a beautiful cathedral in such a beautiful city. The location of this church is so special because you see the cliff in the back
I am always looking for Norman art and architecture. This not nearly as impressive as Monreal or Palermo. But it is free. Best part is the outside architecture. Inside looks mostly later period. For 3 euro you can visit the cloister. Mainly interesting for the different columns and additional views of the cathedral.
A lot of history in a wonderful place. Unmissable in a trip. Just go and enjoy!
