Amazing that there are still places like this in the world. Defiantly worth a visit before they disappear.
We did an Ice Climb with Extreme Adventure and was taken on the Glacier.

So cool to visit a real glacier! Not too far from Reykjavik and easily accessible. Not necessary to have ice picks or do a guided tour if you're limited in time, you can arrive by car and access the first bit in normal clothes.

Definitely go and do a glacier walk. We went with a great guide and it was about three hours.

He was knowledgeable and made the walk very interesting.

Truly an amazing experience! We arrived here with our guide from Grayline as part of our south coast waterfalls and glacier tour.
A hike onto the glacier was included in our tour and we were introduced to our glacier guides who were fantastic. We were supplied with all our equipment, crampons, Ice axe, mountaineering belt and helmet and were given instructions on their use. Our guides were full of enthusiasm and knowledge for the area and the environment and were genuinely enjoying passing on their knowledge of the glaciers and local volcanos. The hike itself was not too tricky and we always felt safe even when the weather turned very quickly as it often does in Iceland.
The views of the glacier and surrounding mountains etc are outstanding and the blue Ice is a sight to behold. It's one of the most awe inspiring natural places I've visited. Highly recommended 😁

It's mesmerising. There are no words to explain this place, as even the photos didn't to justice to the scenic beauty. There's just too much to absorb.
The glacier is melting fast so it's about a 20min hike away from the parking. Normal hiking shoes work well if you aren't doing any ice climbing. It's easy and advised to find any organised tour which is available from many providers, like adventures.is

This Glacier is easily accessible from the highway if you're traveling from Reykjavik to vik. Along the way be sure to stop at several of the waterfalls that are directly off the road. Very impressive as well.

This Glacier is shrinking so make sure you visit it soon. I did a glacier walk/ ice climbing tour with Troll Expedition, and Birgir was my guide. We had only 4 people in the group so I could climb as many times as I wanted. It was pretty amazing actually, and the guide was fantastic.

I highly recommend doing this and also booking the ice climbing along with the glacier walk. It's the same price and you see the same things anyway Just a sweet added bonus.

Beautiful place for a hike. Guide and crampons are highly recommended if not an expert climber. There are bathrooms and a small cafe located at the base of the glacier

One of the more accessible glaciers. You can easily walk to the glacier without a guide. However if you feel like climbing the glacier, then I would recommend you to go on a tour with a guide. They give you gear and help you to safely climb up. We just went to the edge, but it is very slippery on the ice and therefore didn't feel like going on. However you can still take beautiful pictures without actually climbing the glacier.

Buy Crampons before coming!! Free and easily accessible glaciers that you don't have to pay a guide trip for to visit. Strap on the crampons and follow the trails of guided trips. This glacier was the first I've ever been on and it completely blew me away. One of the highlights of our trip!
